Wrexham have had to deal with their fair share of injuries this season, but one returning star believes he is in better condition than ever.
Despite all of those injuries, Wrexham are still in third place in the League One table right now, and have a great chance of securing a third-successive promotion.
While the Red Dragons will need to improve their away form if they’re to stand a chance of going up, Phil Parkinson’s men have been incredibly impressive in their first year back at this level.
Still, the recent return of Arthur Okonkwo from injury has been a huge boost, and the Wrexham goalkeeper is clearly feeling good about himself.

Arthur Okonkwo is coming back stronger than ever
Okonkwo signed for Wrexham on a permanent basis in the summer after his contract with Arsenal expired, and the stopper built on his impressive displays for Parkinson’s side last term with another strong start to this season.
However, a wrist injury picked up in November disrupted his progress, with both Callum Burton and Mark Howard stepping in to cover for the 23-year-old. Okonkwo has since returned, and it’s like he never left.
Speaking to the club’s official website, he discussed how he feels since overcoming the injury, praising the club’s medical team for their work on his rehabilitation.
“It feels so good to be finally back out there,” he said. “It was unfortunate to pick up the injury but thanks to the hard work of the medical staff and everyone involved I’m back playing.”
“I have been able to focus on my life away from football but also focus on my recovery and clear my mind,” Okonkwo added. “I’ve come back fresh, like a new signing.”

Arthur Okonkwo is undroppable for Wrexham
Okonkwo did incredible things in 2024, and he’s started 2025 in much the same vein, too. Delivering clean sheets, big saves, and a commanding presence at the back, there is no doubt that the young goalkeeper is a key player for Parkinson.
Indeed, Wrexham look a much better team with Okonkwo in the goal, and if he can avoid any more injuries this season, you have to fancy the Red Dragons to go up again.
For such a young ‘keeper, Okonkwo is already one of the best in League One, and perhaps even the Football League, and he has a bright future ahead of him still. However, Wrexham will need to get to the Championship soon, or they may end up having to say goodbye to their star shot stopper.
