Wrexham succumbed to a shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of rivals Shrewsbury Town in midweek.
The Red Dragons have had a very quiet January so far, which began with a 2-1 defeat to Barnsley on New Year’s Day followed by a 1-0 win over Peterborough United on January 4th.
Wrexham were then without a fixture for 12 days after their meeting with Port Vale was called off and the FA Cup took place last weekend, which they are already out of.
Phil Parkinson’s side returned to action on January 16th, travelling to Shrewsbury for a League One fixture.
Despite Shrewsbury Town starting the day 22nd in the third tier, Wrexham fell to a 2-1 defeat.
They have now fallen even further behind Birmingham City in the promotion race and have allowed Wycombe Wanderers a chance to regain their three-point lead over them.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney sent Wrexham promotion warning
The Red Dragons are third in League One right now but are in danger of dropping below Huddersfield Town, who have two games in hand.
The Yorkshire outfit have already splashed the cash in the 2025 winter window, signing three players for over £3m.
Now, speaking on the latest edition of the Rob. Ryan. Red podcast, journalist Rich Fay has demanded Wrexham sign a Championship-level striker or they can kiss automatic promotion goodbye.
He said: “Ultimately for me, it comes down to the fact, we spoke about it on last week’s podcast, we are in a position now, we are so grateful and we are so close to a potential promotion this season, we have to throw everything at it
“You’ve mentioned Birmingham, mentioned Huddersfield, we’ll get onto them shortly, we need not League One quality striker, we need a championship striker this month, otherwise you can kiss automatic promotion goodbye.”
What has Phil Parkinson said about Wrexham transfers
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have backed Wrexham well previously, breaking their transfer record several times.
However, the duo are yet to really step up and match the top clubs in League One this season.
Nobody is expecting Wrexham to smash the third-tier transfer record like Birmingham City did in the summer with £20m spent on just one star.
However, the Welsh side have never paid more than £590,000 on one player (Modou Faal) – something that just has to change if they want to really compete with the very best and earn promotion to the Championship.
Parkinson spoke about Wrexham transfers this week but gave little away, saying: “We’re trying to do that but that’s not on my mind stood here at the moment.”
