Wrexham have been linked with a move for Cardiff City’s Callum Robinson, amid a recent wave of controversy which the player has now responded to.

Callum Robinson has just been relegated from the Championship with Cardiff City. Meanwhile, Wrexham have been promoted to the Championship and so they’ll be trading places with their Welsh rivals this summer.

And to rub salt in the wounds, Wrexham could sign Robinson from the Bluebirds this summer. The 38-cap Republic of Ireland international scored 12 goals in 34 Championship outings in 2024/25 despite his side’s last place finish.

Wrexham want to sign new attackers this summer and as ever, Phil Parkinson is keen to sign some experienced names for his Dragons outfit, in a transfer model that’s so far earned them three-straight promotions under owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Ryan Hardie is another name mentioned and another name who’s just been relegated from the second tier with Plymouth Argyle.

Callum Robinson denies missing Cardiff City’s final game of the season

Robinson missed the final four games of the season through injury. But soon after Cardiff’s final day defeat against Norwich City, it was claimed by BBC Sport that Robinson was watching the Aston Villa game, adding that he and several of his Cardiff teammates chose not to attend the Cardiff City match away at Norwich City.

But the 30-year-old attacker has since denied the allegations. Robinson posted on X: “I’d love to see the proof of this because on Saturday I was at no football match. Don’t believe all you read.”

Then two hours later, BBC Sport amended their original post about Robinson attending the Villa game, writing: “This post has been updated to correct an error in the original version, in which Callum Robinson was said to have been at Aston Villa’s game on Saturday. Robinson has clarified that he did not attend any game that day.”

Callum Robinson perfectly fits Phil Parkinson’s dressing room at Wrexham

Coming from Cardiff City could prove controversial among the Bluebirds faithful. But Wrexham fans would surely love to see such a prolific and experienced player arrive at the Racecourse this summer regardless.

And Robinson quashing these rumours plays down any suggestion of wrongdoing, which is obviously a good look. Especially considering that Parkinson has the best dressing room in football, according to co-owner Reynolds.

Reynolds recently said: “Phil, he’s got a dressing room that I’d argue is the best dressing room in sports… That room is a place where it is all for one and one for all, and it’s like nothing else, and I think that’s core values, actual value.

“He’ll pass on a striker or some signing that he doesn’t feel will work in the dressing room, and I don’t blame him, I love that.”

Parkinson may well feel that Robinson perfectly fits the type of player and type of person that Wrexham need this summer, especially so now that this controversy has been put to bed.
