Wrexham signed off with a victory in the final League One game of the season, beating Lincoln City 2-0.

Wrexham secured promotion to the Championship last week, so there was nothing riding on Saturday’s trip to Lincoln City.

The Imps were the better side in the first half, but Wrexham hit them with a quick-fire double in the second half.

Elliot Lee’s header put Wrexham ahead before Ryan Longman added number two, securing Wrexham’s 2-0 win over Lincoln.

Wrexham finish the League One season with 92 points, finishing five points clear of third-placed Stockport County.

Phil Parkinson has dodged transfer questions so far, but with the final game now out of the way, Wrexham may start to look at new additions.

Wrexham show interest in Callum Robinson

Wrexham effectively replace Cardiff City in the Championship, with the Bluebirds finishing bottom of the table.

Swansea City will be Wrexham’s only Welsh derby in the Championship, but Parkinson may now raid Cardiff after their relegation.

Reporter Darren Witcoop claims on social media that Wrexham are interested in Cardiff’s Callum Robinson.

The Bluebirds may need to sell after relegation and Robinson is a player with proven Championship quality in his locker.

Across spells with Bristol City, Preston North End, West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff, Robinson has racked up 61 goals and 36 assists in 272 Championship appearances.

The 30-year-old has also bagged nine goals in 38 caps for the Republic of Ireland, showing his versatility throughout his career.

Robinson has played as a left-sided winger, as a striker or even off the front man, offering major goal threat in any role.

Cardiff may have been relegated, but Robinson has still ended the campaign with 12 league goals to his name.

Cardiff paid £1.5million for Robinson in 2022, as reported by BBC Sport, and he still has two years left to run on his contract.

What the managers say about Callum Robinson

Slaven Bilic, West Bromwich Albion: “I was very impressed with his first game,” said Bilic on West Brom’s official website

“He is present, he is dangerous and he fits in with the other players. Callum was not a gamble. He was on our radar over the summer but he opted to go to the Premier League which is normal, of course.

“We knew who we were getting. Match fitness was never an issue because he was pretty much involved in Sheffield United’s games and they are a very fit team. He can also go by himself either with the ball or when he is linking up with other players on the pitch. He’s exactly the type of player that we wanted,” he added.

Chris Wilder, Sheffield United: “Call is a great kid. A deal for Oli [Burke] suited us and Call suited Slav and West Brom. Taking away this one, I wish Call all the best for the rest of the season and his career, genuinely, because he’s a great lad. A fabulous lad in fact,” Wilder told the Sheffield Star in 2020.

Stephen Kenny, Republic of Ireland: “We have missed him, sometimes he’s not available. He’s a very creative and versatile player, he’s very intelligent, the positions he takes up and the decisions he makes,” Kenny told Sunday World.
