Signing for Wrexham is now an attractive proposition, but players must first pass the Phil Parkinson test.
Wrexham have been labelled a circus by Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones, comments he surely regrets after being thumped 3-0 by the Red Dragons.
But anyone who actually follows the club will know that despite their high-profile owners and the media attention they garner, the Welsh outfit are a well-run, serious club with lofty ambitions.
This is evident when looking at the club’s transfer strategy and recruitment policy under Phil Parkinson.
After signing back in the 2022/23 season, Ben Foster was grilled by Parkinson to make sure he wasn’t ‘coming here just for a bit of PR’.
Meanwhile, the manager has previously confirmed Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s role in Wrexham’s transfer strategy.

Ryan Reynolds shares why Phil Parkinson will turn down Wrexham transfers
More recently, Parkinson discussed Wrexham’s transfer plans for the upcoming 2025 summer window.
When doing so, he was quick to mention that he wanted ‘no superstars, no egos in the dressing room’.
Now, when speaking on the Fearless In Devotion podcast this week, Reynolds has backed up Parkinson’s claims about his transfer policy.
The actor was praising Wrexham’s dressing room, and when doing so, confirmed Parkinson will turn down signings if he feels they are not a good fit.
He said: “Phil, he’s got a dressing room that I’d argue is the best dressing room in sports. And I say that unblinking to other professional athletes in other sports. That room is a place where it is all for one and one for all, and it’s like nothing else, and I think that’s core values, actual value.
“He’ll pass on a striker or some signing that he doesn’t feel will work in the dressing room, and I don’t blame him, I love that.”

Players Wrexham could sign this summer
The 2025 summer transfer window will open up for a couple of weeks on June 1 before re-opening on June 16 to September 1.
Ahead of the window getting underway, the Red Dragons have already been linked with several players.
Callum Robinson is wanted by Wrexham after he hit 12 goals in the Championship for the now-relegated Cardiff City.
Ryan Hardie is being linked once again after interest in the Plymouth Argyle man over the most recent winter window as well.
