Max Cleworth has spoken out on Wrexham teammates Dom Hyam and Conor Coady and how he’s learning from the two much more experienced defenders.
Wrexham have an array of defensive options following the summer transfer window, with Dom Hyam and Conor Coady both signing for Wrexham.
Phil Parkinson is yet to settle on a preferred back three with Callum Doyle and Lewis Brunt changing, but Max Cleworth and Hyam seem like preferred choices right now.

Max Cleworth hails Coady and Hyam’s experience at Wrexham
Speaking to BBC Sport, Wrexham’s young defender Cleworth, who has earned three-straight promotions with the club, spoke positively about how having the likes of Hyam and Coady in the ranks is helping him to develop his own game.
Hyam joined from Blackburn Rovers in a £2.7million deal on deadline day and brings with him a CV that includes 214 Championship appearances. Coady meanwhile has 198 Premier League appearances to his name, as well as 10 caps for England.
Cleworth said: “They’ve had some incredible experiences. Dom has played in the Championship for years and it doesn’t need saying with Conor who was in the England national team a few years ago.
“We have general chats and gain experiences that they’ve had and I try to take a bit of that into my own game. I listen to them and things they say on the defensive side but also on the ball, they have different ideas that maybe they’ve seen at a higher level.
“But also listening to the experiences they’ve had and some of the games they’ve played in, they’re bigger than ones I have so you’ve got to try and take little bits from them and try and add it to my own game.”
Max Cleworth on track to set new Wrexham record
Cleworth is only one of three players to have played every minute of every league game so far this season. He’s also one of the few remaining players from that initial 2022/23 promotion from the National League.
But with every promotion he continues to adapt to the new level and having the likes of Hyam and Coady by his side is only going to help Cleworth progress more and more as a player.
And this season, Cleworth is on track to set a new Wrexham record for the most amount of appearances under Phil Parkinson, currently held by Paul Mullin at 172 with Cleworth on 152 right now.
Wrexham return to Championship action against Stoke City this weekend.
