There’s just four games left in the 2024/25 League One season, and Wrexham are currently sitting second in the table.
After the weekend’s results – Wrexham’s 0-0 draw with Wigan and Wycombe’s 1-0 win over Stevenage – however, Phil Parkinson‘s side are just one point clear of third place Wycombe Wanderers in the race for the final automatic promotion spot.
And while a supercomputer has predicted the Wrexham will still finish in second place and secure promotion to the Championship, fans may not be currently very confident given the level of performance witnessed at the Brick Community Stadium on Saturday.
Wrexham looked rather toothless in attack during the 0-0 draw, failing to muster a single shot on target throughout the 90 minutes of action.
Parkinson’s men may have luck on their side though, as while Wycombe are due to face off against some of the top teams in League One during the final few weeks of the season, Wrexham look to have a much easier ride.
Wycombe to face four promotion rivals in League One run-in
Wycombe closed the gap on Wrexham over the last week by first winning their game in-hand against Huddersfield Town, and then securing a dramatic 1-0 win over Stevenage thanks to a 91st minute goal from Caleb Taylor.
Mike Dodds’ side will therefore be full of confidence heading into the final four games of the 2024/25 season; and they certainly need to be given who they are about to go head-to-head with.
Rather remarkably, the fixtures list has thrown up four games against fellow promotion-chasing sides in the final weeks of the campaign for Wycombe.
Wycombe will travel to face eighth-placed Bolton Wanderers on Good Friday, before welcoming fifth-placed Charlton Athletic to Adams Park on Easter Monday. Charlton head into the game in fine form, having lost just one of their last 11 League One games.
| Date | Fixture | Opposition League Position |
| April 18 | Bolton vs Wycombe | 8th |
| April 21 | Wycombe vs Charlton | 5th |
| April 26 | Leyton Orient vs Wycombe | 7th |
| May 3 | Wycombe vs Stockport | 4th |
It doesn’t get any easier in gameweek 45 or 46 either.
Dodds’ side are then set to face seventh-placed Leyton Orient, who will likely be still in with a shout of a place in the play-offs, before a tricky last game of the season clash with fourth-placed Stockport County.
Stockport have one all but one of their last six games, with the only loss coming to Wrexham.
Wrexham have much easier fixtures in final weeks of the season

Wrexham, on paper at least, look to have a much easier run-in of fixtures – something which will no doubt delight fans of the club.
Although Wrexham will also face Charlton Athletic in the penultimate game of the 2024/25 campaign, Parkinson’s side are due to go head-to-head with two mid-table teams with very little to play for in Blackpool and Lincoln City in gameweeks 44 and 46 respectively, and a Bristol City team who are currently enduring a run of six-straight defeats.
| Date | Fixture | Opposition League Position |
| April 18 | Wrexham vs Bristol Rovers | 21st |
| April 21 | Blackpool vs Wrexham | 10th |
| April 26 | Wrexham vs Charlton | 5th |
| May 3 | Lincoln City vs Wrexham | 12th |
Speaking recently, pundit Paul Merson even joked that Wrexham’s run-in was so favourable that it looked like they ‘put it together themselves’, saying:
“Oh wow, did they put them together themselves?
“If they win them three games, you’d think it’s going to put severe pressure on Wycombe – severe pressure. There’s some nice fixtures there – really, really nice fixtures.”
