Wrexham dropped points on the road on Saturday afternoon as Phil Parkinson’s side drew at Wigan Athletic.
The League One promotion race was always likely to take some twists and turns in the final weeks of the season.
Sure enough, Wrexham’s six-point lead from last weekend has now been cut to just one.
Wycombe Wanderers beat Huddersfield Town in midweek before securing a late win over Stevenage on Saturday.
Wrexham could only draw with Wigan Athletic, failing to muster a single shot on target at the Brick Community Stadium.
With four games to play, Wrexham are still in a strong position but must get back to winning ways against Bristol Rovers on Friday.

Charlton Athletic boss fumes over Wrexham fixtures
Saturday was a hugely disappointing day for Wrexham fans, who witnessed a fairly dull performance against the Latics.
Both Wrexham and Wycombe kicked off at 12:30pm UK time on Saturday, just as they did last weekend, too.
Neither side has really had an issue with the early starts, but Charlton Athletic’s Nathan Jones is far from happy.
The Addicks are five points behind Wycombe and six behind Wrexham, so their automatic promotion hopes are a little slim.
Still, Charlton play both Wycombe and Wrexham in the final four games, meaning they could seriously pile the pressure on.
As quoted by South London Press, Jones suggested that Wrexham and Wycombe kicking off early is unfair on other clubs in the mix.
Jones believes that the early results affect those kicking off later, either putting pressure on or serving to ‘dishearten’ the chasing pack.
Jones noted that TV schedules have dominated ‘everything’ but feels all teams involved should be kicking off at the same time to avoid any advantages.
“At this stage of the season, I’m not sure they should be kicking off early. I know TV dictates everything now, but it gives people advantage,” said Jones.
“Let’s get everything at the right time, and we all compete. But TV dictates constantly everything. So, when you see that they drop points then does it put pressure on you? Does it give you the incentive? Don’t really know.
“If they win, then does it dishearten you? It’s a constant thing. But right now, I think we’re at the nitty-gritty end, and I think everyone should be at three o’clock – so that we compete and see where we all are,” he added.
Wrexham v Charlton moved
Wrexham fans have become used to the 12:30pm kick-offs now but will have a 5:30pm kick-off later in April – against Charlton.
The Addicks travel to the STōK Cae Ras on Saturday, April 26.
Wrexham fans have been divided on the game being moved for later TV coverage, with some really against such a late decision being made.
Jones surely won’t be happy about that decision either, and won’t like that Wycombe play at 12:30pm that day, too.
Wrexham just have to focus on results over kick-off times at this stage in the season and will hope to pick up the wins needed to secure a third straight promotion – especially against a dangerous Charlton side.
