Wrexham are intent on signing a central defender this summer.
Phil Parkinson is eyeing an experienced, Premier League defender to slot in at the heart of the Wrexham defence alongside Max Cleworth and Lewis Brunt.
Eoghan O’Connell and Dan Scarr will be able deputies but the Red Dragons are after a quality addition to their defensive ranks.
Wrexham are still interested in Ben Davies even after the Wales international signed a new contract at Tottenham Hotspur.
There is a feeling that the new deal doesn’t rule out an exit for Davies this summer however, there might be a more realistic option the club cannot afford to miss out on.

Wrexham’s dream and realistic defensive signing
Davies to Wrexham is unlikely this summer despite the fans desire to see the Wales captain arrive at the Racecourse Ground.
Wrexham missed out on Harry Darling as the central defender opted to join Championship rivals Norwich but the club can secure another target on a free transfer.
Everton defender Michael Keane has been linked with a move to North Wales with his current contract due to expire.
Wrexham offered a contract to Craig Dawson however, there is a feeling that he would prefer to join Birmingham as they have also shown interest.
Keane has been capped 12 times for England and would be the perfect foil for Cleworth and Brunt at the heart of the back line next season.
Michael Keane’s Championship record
Keane’s arrival would be good for Cleworth as he possesses a wealth of experience and has been a consistent performer at the highest level.
At 32, there are still many good years left in the defender and despite playing in the top flight for most of his career, he also knows the rigours of the Championship well.

Should Wrexham persuade Keane to make the move, they would be acquiring a defender with great aerial presence and a wonderful reading of the game.
He really would be the perfect signing for Parkinson and a model professional the younger players could learn lots from.
