Fear over Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham frustrations isn’t needed, his stance on a sale is clear

A claim about Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham frustrations has been made this week, but fans should not be worried.

Ryan Reynolds has been the co-owner of Wrexham for four and a half years now.

The very early episodes of Welcome to Wrexham showed it was Rob Mac who, of the North American actors, was more invested in the football club.

However, it quickly became apparent that Ryan has now fallen in love with Wrexham, the team and the town.

He and Rob have backed the Dragons very heavily, and they are now competing in the Championship. But their start to life in the second tier has been slow.

Ryan Reynolds’ frustrations at Wrexham emerge

Wrexham are 18th in the Championship and have won two league games so far in 2025/26.

Amid their pretty average start, a report this week emerged claiming Reynolds is privately frustrated.

The co-owner being frustrated is not ideal, but it should not concern supporters in the slightest.

The Hollywood star has a clear love for Wrexham, and his stance on leaving the club has been drilled home multiple times over the last several years.

Why Ryan Reynolds won’t leave Wrexham anytime soon

Back in 2021, Reynolds made it clear he wanted Wrexham in the Premier League, a goal that was mocked at the time.

That ambition and desire to bring success to not only the football club but the town as well has been reiterated several times in recent years.

In May, Reynolds responded to claims about getting bored of Wrexham, making it clear that it will not happen.

He said: “I don’t have a message to those people [who say they will get bored of Wrexham]. It’s more like when you know who you are, it’s a superpower.

“Sentiment that we feel when we walk through the streets of Wrexham today versus 40 years ago is a contagion, and I love that. So that’s not something you get bored of.”

In April 2024, meanwhile, Reynolds discussed funding Wrexham, insisting he’s not in it to make money.

He said: “History has an unbelievable amount of examples of how this was not the best idea, but we’re not in it to make money and ——- it, we won’t.

“I think we recognize how lucky we are that we can be in this position where it isn’t about making money or any of those things. I mean, you have to be in a pretty privileged spot to be able to do this to begin with. But eventually, you know, as we climb up the leagues, we’re going to need outside help in order to sustain this club.”

Since Ryan and Rob came on board, everyone at the football club has become accustomed to winning a lot.

Even in their first full season when they lost in the National League play-offs, Wrexham still won most of their games and ended the campaign in second place.

The Championship has now provided a serious reality check for a team that has known nothing but success for four years, and frustration is expected. But it’s obvious that Ryan won’t be going anywhere.
