Ryan Reynolds’ stance on continuing as owner of Wrexham, along with Rob McElhenney, has been made clear.

Rob McElhenney was inspired by Sunderland and their Netflix documentary to buy a football club.

He then brought Ryan Reynolds into the picture, and the pair decided to go ahead with the purchase of Wrexham.

Reynolds and McElhenney looked at other clubs before taking over the Red Dragons – a move that has since paid off tenfold.

Wrexham’s valuation has skyrocketed in the last few years, seeing a major increase from the £2m the North Americans paid for the club back in February 2021.

Now, Reynolds has been commenting on claims that he and Rob will ‘get bored’ and sell the club.

Ryan Reynolds on getting ‘bored’ of Wrexham

The actors have been terrific owners for Wrexham, taking them out of the National League and up to the Championship in four years.

However, Reynolds and McElhenney are criticised by rival fans on occasion, with some suggesting that the pair will lose interest.

Speaking on the Fearless in Devotion podcast this week, Ryan was asked about those people who say he and Rob will ‘get bored’ of the club.

However, the A-list celebrity was quick to play down any chance of that happening, giving a passionate response.

He said: “I don’t have a message to those people [who say they will get bored of Wrexham]. It’s more like when you know who you are, it’s a superpower.

“I do a lot of like, they’re not motivational speeches, but they’re speeches on storytelling, and storytelling in interesting, unexpected buckets.

“I personally find storytelling to be fulfilling in feature films, through writing, through commercials, through football

“I mean, these are the things that I love, and this is the most romantic version of storytelling I’ve ever heard because it isn’t about a football club, it’s about a town, and the football club is located inside the town

“Sentiment that we feel when we walk through the streets of Wrexham today versus 40 years ago is a contagion, and I love that. So that’s not something you get bored of.”

What it would take for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney to sell Wrexham

One talkSPORT pundit suggested in March that Reynolds and McElhenney could sell Wrexham if they make enough money out of it.

Andy Goldstein said: “It’s all about profit. How much did they buy Wrexham for? I’m guessing it’s nowhere near the amount it’s worth now if they get into the Championship.

“If they make £300m each over five years then I could see it [them selling].”

Based on recent comments from Ryan, though, it does seem that a sale is out of the question for the time being, even though they are in the Championship now.
