The 2024/25 League One Season is fast approaching with the Red Dragons boss shaping his side.
The League One campaign kicks off next month with Wrexham set to host Wycombe Wanderers on the opening day.
Phil Parkinson would have been looking to talisman Paul Mullin to start the season strong, but Mullin’s latest injury blow will make the former Sunderland boss look to other players in the squad.
There are many striking options at the Racecourse with Ollie Palmer, Steven Fletcher, Jack Marriot, and Sam Dalby all available for selection.
However, the manager could look elsewhere on the pitch to help the reduced goal threat.
Midfielder Andy Cannon was able to help contribute with four goals last season. After Mullin’s injury, it will be important for multiple players to add to the goal tally.
However, Parkinson may once again look to one star player to help fill the void of his key goal scorer.

Elliot Lee to provide spark for Wrexham in 2024/25
Elliot Lee has been a revelation since arriving at the Racecourse in 2022. The former West Ham United man has been a vital part of back-to-back promotions with strong on-pitch relationships with strikers Palmer and Mullin.
Lee has become a very reliable player for Parkinson who often calls upon his creativity to get a result.
Last season the former Tranmere Rovers striker missed the start of the League Two campaign through injury and Lee was required to step up. The midfielder relished being the main man and continued his form once the former Cambridge United man was fit.
Last campaign Wrexham’s number 38 scored 16 goals with 5 assists.
With a similar scenario to last year, Parkinson will be looking to Lee to repeat his quality while his star striker is sidelined.
Elliot Lee is a club captain candidate
The former Charlton Athletic man has settled into the squad and performed at a high level since being brought to the Racecourse.
Lee’s quality in creating dangerous attacks and linking up with forwards has been an ever-present strength for Parkinson’s side.
His intelligence of movement and ability for quick interchanges in play is a huge asset in games.
However, despite his ability, the former Luton Town star has a strong work ethic. The English number 10 often helps with the attacking press but chases back to help in defence.
After the recent departure of Luke Young and Ben Tozer, the captaincy has a vacancy.
When fit Mullin will probably be a strong candidate, but with the striker’s absence, Lee should be considered for the role.
He has strong quality on the pitch and is one of Wrexham’s most consistent stars. With Parkinson looking to appoint a captain, the 29-year-old must be considered as a strong candidate for the coming season.
