Wrexham have assembled an impressive squad to compete in the Championship, as they brought 13 new faces to the club this summer.
Owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac invested heavily in Phil Parkinson’s squad as Wrexham paid £33 million in the transfer market.
However, even before they went out to sign players to help them maintain their status in the Championship, they had a fine squad that could have competed in the division.
Due to the quality of the signings, it has left some of the more important players who earned promotion from League One now battling for positions on the bench, meaning that they may consider their futures in the January transfer window.

Sam Smith may consider that his future is away from Wrexham
The forward joined the Red Dragons late in the January transfer window in 2025 to help them earn promotion, and he was key to this success, as he scored seven goals in the 17 league fixtures he featured in.
The £1 million fee they paid for him at the time was believed to be a record fee spent on a player; however, Wrexham’s five most expensive signings have now all come this summer.
Sam Smith may consider his options moving forward, as his minutes have been limited since the promotion, playing 125 minutes despite appearing in seven matches for the Red Dragons in the league, with none of them being as part of the starting XI.
He is considered the backup to Kieffer Moore, with the Welsh international being considered levels above Smith if minutes are anything to go by.
There would be a whole host of clubs interested in signing Smith from League One, as he has demonstrated that he is arguably one of the best strikers at that level for Wrexham, Reading and Cambridge United.

Wrexham have several great options in attack
Phil Parkinson was desperate to bring Moore to the club, as he felt that he would be the perfect striker for how he wanted Wrexham, and he has so far been proven correct due to the impact the Welsh international has had upon the team.
The Red Dragons also have Josh Windass, who can operate as a striker and has so far been key to the side operating in a free role in the attack, while Nathan Broadhead has demonstrated flashes of what he can offer.
| Forward Options | Appearances | Minutes | Goals |
| Kieffer Moore | 9 | 753 | 4 |
| Josh Windass | 6 | 388 | 3 |
| Nathan Broadhead | 7 | 217 | 1 |
| Sam Smith | 7 | 125 | 1 |
| Ryan Hardie | 4 | 162 | 0 |
| Jay Rodriguez | 0 | 0 | 0 |
These three players appear to be the preferred options for Parkinson, with summer signing Ryan Hardie perhaps looking for a move away from Wrexham despite only joining in the summer.
Jay Rodriguez is another attacking option, despite being left out of the squad, having not been registered for the Championship, along with Smith.
The 27-year-old may consider his options this January if the minutes continue to evade him, with it being presumed that Wrexham can replace him with the options at the club or bring in another striker to challenge Moore for the starting position in the team.
