Wrexham were busy in the summer transfer window as they brought 13 new players to the club to prepare for the Championship.

The Red Dragons were looking to bring players of quality to the squad that could help them battle to remain in the second division.

Wrexham spent £33 million on these signings, and several of them have become important pieces of the team, with Dominic Hyam being a standout performer for the Welsh club.

However, for one of the summer signings, he may be regretting his decision to move to the Racecourse Ground, with the player being of interest to several Championship clubs during the transfer window.

Ryan Hardie may be regretting his Wrexham move

Ryan Hardie has not been in the Wrexham squad for the last three matchdays, as the club earned impressive draws in each of those fixtures against Derby County, Leicester City and Birmingham City.

The 28-year-old had four minutes of action against Reading in the EFL Cup as they progressed to the Fourth Round, with his appearance against QPR being the game before this cup tie.

There is no indication that the striker is injured, as Phil Parkinson is usually very open when discussing players’ fitness and injury concerns, but he’s made no mention of a possible injury to Hardie.

Wrexham paid £700,000 for Hardie, beating other clubs to his signature as they looked to bring a striker with Championship pedigree to the Racecourse Ground; however, he was one of the early summer signings before the Red Dragons would bring in Welsh internationals Kieffer Moore and Nathan Broadhead.

Ryan Hardie may depart Wrexham this January

Wrexham may be interested in signing Javier Hernandez, with the former Manchester United star reportedly being available for free this January, with the striker likely to accept a role as an impact sub.

Meanwhile, Ryan Hardie may be willing to explore his options this January to once again be an important player in the Championship, like he was with Plymouth Argyle.

The Scottish striker would be a good source of goals for any Championship or League One club, as he scored 22 in the second tier last season.

Unless there is a change in his game time, he may be willing to explore options away from Wrexham, be that on loan or permanently, to help reignite his career, which has seemed to have stalled at the Red Dragons.
