Wrexham attacking duo Ollie Palmer and Sam Smith may be concerned over their playing time this season after Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac’s latest move.

Wrexham have notched three successive promotions, and such a rise to glory is expected to be met with vast changes, both on-and-off the pitch.

With the latest promotion, Wrexham will face a huge challenge in the Championship, something that they must prepare for by adding extra bodies to the squad before the season kicks off.

Whilst pre-season should not be the only indicator of whether a team is ready for the upcoming campaign, there are signs that bringing extra attacking firepower to the squad could be crucial.

As a result, Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac have decided to give Phil Parkinson one thing that could potentially distress Ollie Palmer and Sam Smith as further questions arise over their game time.

Phil Parkinson’s £10m Wrexham surprise could leave Ollie Palmer and Sam Smith in uncertainty

This summer, Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac are willing to give Phil Parkinson £10m to spend on a forward as Wrexham aim to prepare for the upcoming Championship season.

Whilst the ambition shown by the Wrexham owners is vastly important to Parkinson and his plans for this season, especially with the clear need for a striker at this moment, it potentially leaves both Ollie Palmer and Sam Smith in the dark regarding their game time.

The pair will likely both be behind new Wrexham recruit Ryan Hardie in the pecking order, and they will fall further away from the first team if a £10m signing is brought in.

Palmer has featured in pre-season for Wrexham, whilst Smith has been absent amid fitness concerns.

Phil Parkinson may have to replicate Paul Mullin decision with Ollie Palmer

Since his arrival at the club, Ollie Palmer has been a brilliant professional to have around the club, whether he is playing or not.

He joined the club and made an instant impact in the National League, whilst also playing an important role in the two further promotions.

Unfortunately, it is likely that his game time is set to be limited this season, especially if another forward is brought in.

If Palmer’s priority this season is notching game time, it would make sense for all parties for him to potentially be handed a move away this summer.
