Phil Parkinson has shared an update that could have an impact on the long-term future of Ollie Palmer.
Before the opening game of the 2025/26 Championship season versus Southampton, Ollie Palmer was told he could leave Wrexham in a private meeting.
As was expected, the striker played no role in the Saints clash, which ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Red Dragons.
However, Kieffer Moore picked up an injury during that fixture, and he was absent for the midweek Carabao Cup win over Hull City as a result.
With Jay Rodriguez also sidelined, Palmer was given a place on the bench against the Tigers, coming on to net twice.
He was then once again absent against West Brom after Moore made a swift recovery and started up front.
But with more injury woes now facing Phil Parkinson, the door may be open for Palmer to once again start featuring for the Welsh side.

Wrexham may need Ollie Palmer after Josh Windass injury blow
Moore started up top alongside Josh Windass against West Brom, but Windass picked up an injury in the 3-2 loss.
Now, Parkinson has shared a fresh update on the former Sheffield Wednesday man, confirming he will be out for four to six weeks.
As per Leader Live, he said: “Josh is going to be out for four to six weeks with his hamstring.
“Obviously it’s a blow because he’s been great for us. Even in the first half hour against West Brom he was really good and obviously down at Southampton.
“It is really frustrating for him and for us but it’s part and parcel of football and we’ve got to deal with it.
“With the international break coming up, by the time that’s finished he won’t be far off.”
Given Palmer filled in for the injured Moore against Hull, he may once again be involved this coming weekend and in future games Windass will miss.
Even if the attacker doesn’t start against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, he could come off the bench. If he performs well in the second tier, it might be enough for him to remain at Wrexham for another year.

Every game Josh Windass could miss through injury
Windass suffered his injury on August 16, meaning if he is out for at minimum four weeks, he will not return until September 13.
He is obviously going to miss the meeting with his former club this weekend, and there are more tough fixtures, including a tie with Millwall, that he will be absent from.
| Team | Date |
| Sheffield Wednesday | 08/23 |
| Preston North End (Carabao Cup) | 08/26 |
| Millwall | 08/30 |
| QPR | 09/13 |
If Windass is sidelined for six weeks, he would also miss a clash with Norwich City on September 20 and then potentially return on September 27 against Derby County.
