It has been a great year for Wrexham which now sees them flying high in League Two. With that being said, let’s take a look at three players who need to improve moving into 2024.
It is safe to say that 2023 has been a great year for Wrexham. Finally securing National League promotion and now fighting at the top end of League Two.
Under the tutelage of Phil Parkinson, the club has gone from strength to strength and improved massively on the pitch.
This has been paired with great work done off the pitch by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, as always.

With all the good times rolling, there have been some players who have struggled for minutes and have seen performances drop. In saying that, let’s take a look at three players who need to improve in order to stay at the club in 2024.
1. Luke Young
It has been a tough season for Luke Young so far, such has been the lack of game time he has been able to accrue. With just six starts and 569 minutes played, he may be thinking about a move away in his mind.
Given the form of the midfield three of Elliot Lee, Andy Cannon and George Evans, it has been hard for anyone else to play. When that chance has arisen it has more often than not been James Jones that has come in over Young.
He deserves to be one of the star players for a club and doesn’t want to be sitting on the bench in League Two. He has been a top-class servant to Wrexham and is deserving of first-team minutes at The Racecourse or elsewhere.
If he gets that chance in the first team he needs to step up to the plate in the EFL and show the quality he showed in the National League. Although he hasn’t had much of a chance he needs to improve to get more regular minutes.
2. Bryce Hosannah
It isn’t what any Wrexham fans will want to hear but Bryce Hosannah’s time with the club may be coming to an end.
He has had some good times with the Reds following his move from Leeds United and he came with plenty of potential. He has been very unlucky with injury which has hampered his game time and has seen him struggle to cement his place in the side.

With 38 games in what is now two and a half seasons in North Wales, he is yet to truly stamp his mark on this side. He potentially deserves a chance in the first team and if he gets that he needs to grab it with both hands, improve and impress.
Moving into 2024 he might be let go in January but if he is kept and given a chance, he needs to take advantage.
3. Liam McAlinden
It is a testament to Liam McAlinden that he has been happy to be utilised as a squad player, mainly in cup competitions. His versatility as a wing-back or even as a midfielder has made him a useful player at times for the Reds.
He signed a new one-year deal at the beginning of the current campaign and as a result, is out of contract this summer coming. It appears unlikely that he will earn another extension this summer.
Like Hosannah, if McAlinden can’t improve and get into the side and take his chance then he is likely to be heading toward the exit. Although he is a decent backup, it doesn’t feel like he will ever be a first-team player.
