Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson will be keen to end one personal unwanted record as the Red Dragons face Queens Park Rangers.

Wrexham host Queens Park Rangers at the Racecourse Ground this weekend as Phil Parkinson’s side look to notch back-to-back wins in the Championship.

Despite a challenging start to the 2025/26 Championship season for the Red Dragons, who notched just one point in their opening three, they managed to claim their first win after dismantling Millwall at The Den.

Pressure was on Parkinson to claim his first Championship win with Wrexham, and it has set them up brilliantly to deal with the threat of a QPR side who also sit on four points.

While Parkinson’s priority this weekend will be for Wrexham to claim all three points to improve their standing in the Championship, the Red Dragons gaffer has a personal reason why he will be keen to claim victory against the London-based side.

Phil Parkinson holds challenging record against QPR ahead of Wrexham clash

Wrexham’s clash with QPR this weekend will see Phil Parkinson pitted against a side whom he has only beaten once in his managerial career.

Parkinson has faced off against QPR on 10 occasions with four separate clubs, having lost six.

The last time Parkinson played QPR was during his Bolton Wanderers tenure, which ended in a 2-1 away win in 2019, his first-ever win against the R’s.

In addition, it will be the first time that Wrexham have faced QPR since 2004, and the Red Dragons will be hoping to end a 24-year wait for a win against the fellow Championship side.

Wrexham have the perfect opportunity to gain momentum vs QPR

Despite the start to Wrexham’s campaign sparking difficulties, after they were unable to claim a win in their first three, the Red Dragons are now over the hump of getting that first win on the board.

Phil Parkinson now needs to make sure that his side are able to build on that momentum and deliver a crushing blow to QPR.

QPR also managed a crucial win last time out as they saw off Charlton Athletic 3-1, responding to their previous 7-1 drubbing against Coventry City.

These are the games that Wrexham should be looking to pick up points, especially at the Racecourse Ground, which has proven to be a challenging place to go in previous years under Parkinson.
