Wrexham produced a solid performance to earn their first win of the season at Millwall.

Second half strikes from Kieffer Moore and Lewis O’Brien secured a 2-0 victory for Phil Parkinson’s men and their first win of the Championship campaign.

It was a hard-fought victory for the Red Dragons with notable performances in defence from Max Cleworth and Conor Coady.

Wrexham can now look forward to adding the final few touches to their squad ahead of the transfer deadline and Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have been sent a message by the Wrexham boss with one decision in the clash.

Phil Parkinson sends transfer message over Wrexham midfield options v Millwall

It was telling in Wrexham’s recent draw with Sheffield Wednesday that the midfield became tired and caused the team to drop deep.

There were periods in the second half where the same thing happened against Millwall, however, the Red Dragons were much more resolute in defence.

Parkinson did not make a change to his personnel in midfield despite making five substitutes during the match.

It shows that he doesn’t have the depth in midfield that he would like and the Wrexham owners must now address this issue in the final days of the window.

Wrexham remain interested in Jordan James

Ipswich are trying to hi-jack Wrexham’s bid for Jordan James but the club are still trying to complete a deal for the former Birmingham midfielder.

Wrexham bid for three midfielders earlier in the week with Will Smallbone of Southampton and West Ham’s Andy Irving on their radar.

It remains to be seen how many of those options Parkinson gets over the line but his decision to not make any midfield substitutes highlights the need for depth.

The Championship campaign will be a long and difficult process and the Red Dragons will need everybody they can get in their pursuit to finish as high as possible.
