Departing Wrexham star Paul Mullin has already explained why he may be content with leaving the club, having notched one goalscoring milestone he always wanted.
Paul Mullin endured a difficult League One campaign with Wrexham, which saw his game time severely hampered in comparison to previous seasons. Phil Parkinson decided to make wholesale changes to his frontline, which, inevitably, left Mullin surplus to requirements.
Following promotion to the Championship, it seems as though those vast improvements with recruitment will continue.
Because of this, it is no surprise to see Mullin edging closer to his Wrexham exit, with Wigan Athletic set to sign the 30-year-old striker in a loan deal for the 2025/26 season.
Wrexham fans are gutted over Mullin’s departure, but the man himself might be content, knowing that he completed one previous goal during his tenure.

Paul Mullin was able to hit the prized aim of 100 goals for Wrexham
Mullin has stated his keenness to represent Wrexham in the Championship, a hope that looks set to be taken away from him this season. Whilst he may not be able to succeed with this dream, the Liverpudlian has ticked one aim off his list and can leave knowing that he will go down as a Wrexham legend as a result.
Speaking back in May 2024, reflecting on his previous injury issue that hampered his game time at the start of the 2023/24 season, Mullin said: “The moment I was alone, I sat there and set out myself a lot of targets – to get to 100 goals and be grateful to get there.
“I’ve managed to surpass it, so from a personal perspective, it’s been a really pleasing season and probably the season I am most proud of.”
Mullin was able to reach 100 goals in the famous red, with his total currently standing at 107, 64 of which were in the National League.
The Wrexham striker finished the 2023/24 season on exactly 100 goals, and then went on to notch a further five in the most recent game in all competitions.

Paul Mullin finds himself in the higher echelons of top scorers of all time with the Dragons, a fact that no doubt places him high in Wrexham folklore.
With 107 to his name, he stands at the club’s 7th highest goalscorer, a remarkable effort after just four seasons with the club.
Having not only shown such class with the goals, but the fact that he was also Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds’ first signing at Wrexham only increases the legendary status of Mullin. Without him, the club certainly wouldn’t be preparing for a season in the Championship.
To be the main focal point across two crucial promotions, whilst also playing a part in the third, there is nothing to suggest that Mullin is not a legend around North Wales as a result.
