Wrexham lost to Peterborough United in the EFL Trophy semi-final on Thursday but it was not all negative.
The Red Dragons were clear favourites going into the match having already beaten Darren Ferguson’s men twice in League One this term.
However, despite George Dobson and Modou Faall giving them a two-goal lead, Wrexham lost to Peterborough United on penalties.
Paul Mullin and Elliot Lee missed from 12 yards and Ryan Renolds was mocked by one Peterborough star following the Welsh team’s exit.
On the bright side, Faal is continuing to show some signs of promise following his record transfer from West Bromwich Albion in the summer.
More excitingly, Harry Ashfield continued to cement himself as a serious prospect for Wrexham.

Wrexham ace Harry Ashfield could net Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney millions
The teenager is a local lad and has begun to cement himself in the first-team picture.
He scored his first senior goal in an EFL Trophy win over Port Vale earlier this month and once again started on Thursday.
Wrexham fans praised Ashfield for his showing against Peterborough, including labelling him an ‘unreal prospect’.
Now, given his age and obvious talent, it would not be surprising to see the versatile midfielder go on to have a superb career and end up being worth well in excess of eight figures.
Parkinson dubbed Ashfield ‘gifted’ post-Peterborough and is no doubt desperate to keep him at Wrexham for as long as possible.
But if Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds want to get the most out of the Welshman both on the field and potentially in the transfer market down the line, they need to pull their fingers out and get him tied down to a new contract.
Right now, Ashfield’s deal will expire at the end of June 2025 meaning he will become a free agent, which would be a massive blow and serious loss of potential profit for the club in the future.

Harry Ashfield stats for Wrexham vs Peterborough
We predicted Ashfield could cover for Andy Cannon in the centre of midfield following the latter’s long-term injury.
And that is exactly what happened on February 26th, with the 18-year-old dropping down from the striker role he was given against Port Vale and into the three-man midfield.
