Wrexham have been on an incredible journey under the ownership of Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac, as the club achieved three consecutive promotions to climb from the National League to the Championship.

Their investment has been crucial to the Red Dragons’ story so far, with this being most recently seen in their 13 summer signings, with Wrexham spending £33 million to bring Championship quality to the Welsh club.

The success they have brought to the Racecourse Ground has inspired them to invest in other football clubs, with Reynolds warning Eva Longoria about being an owner and Formula 1.

Like with Wrexham, it appears that the F1 team that the Hollywood pair have invested in are going to be a huge challenge.

Wrexham spirit needed to bring success to Alpine after the team boss’s brutal comments

The spirit within Wrexham and its fanbase has helped catapult it through the English divisions, and now it is time for Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac to do the same with Alpine.

The F1 team currently sit at the bottom of the constructors’ standings with just 20 points scored all season. That is despite being the team with the most famous faces, including the Red Dragons owners and Rory McIlroy.

As reported by the Express, the team boss gave an insightful view into the team that is struggling, as Flavio Briatore said: “We have got great facilities, but the product we put on the track doesn’t reflect the effort of the people here and the facilities we have here. My top priority is to make sure that Enstone produces the best car we can.

“You have to have an eye on the future. You have to sacrifice short-term success and invest in the future, and we are going through that at the moment.

“I am a great believer that you find out more about people when things go badly than when things go well, because you see what people are really made of. There are those people that are willing to dig deep, find an extra gear and keep pushing.”

Ryan Reynolds’ involvement with Alpine F1

In June 2023, Reynolds joined a group of investors, including Otro Capital and RedBird Capital Partners, to purchase a 24% stake in Alpine F1.

The purpose of the investment in the team valued at $1.5 billion, as reported by Blackbook Motorsport, according to Sportico’s rankings at the time it was written, to boost the team’s performance by improving its media and marketing strategy.

Reynolds’ investment was believed to be around $200 million, according to Variety; however, the owners have yet to see much success for their investment.

While Wrexham have enjoyed much success with the investment of the Deadpool star and Rob Mac, there may be a need to rethink their strategy for the F1 team to bring similar glory to Alpine.
