The end of the transfer window is fast approaching and don’t be surprised if Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds throw up a few surprises at Wrexham.

Wrexham may have made seven new additions to their squad this summer but that doesn’t mean they won’t be active in the final days of this transfer window.

Last summer, the Reds confirmed the loan signing of goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo on Deadline Day while striker Steven Fletcher arrived as a free transfer on September 8th.

In recent years, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have made some surprise additions to the Racecourse Ground, and don’t be shocked if the Hollywood owners achieve similar this year.

So, with that said, here are three last-minute transfers McElhenney and Reynolds could sanction this week…

Michael Smith

Wrexham have been on the hunt for a new striker throughout this window and have still had no luck.

A number of their targets, including Will Lankshear and John McAtee have dropped like flies while Michael Smith is another on their radar.

Sheffield Wednesday striker Smith could be available in a last-minute deal from the Owls, depending on whether they sign one or two strikers themselves.

The 32-year-old has come off the bench in each of their three Championship games but if Wednesday do acquire one or two players before Deadline Day, Smith could be shifted on.

Smith would be a ‘game-changer’ for Parkinson, as he’s plundered 34 goals in his previous two League One campaigns.

Ovie Ejaria

Ovie Ejaria is still without a club after leaving Reading by mutual consent in December 2023.

The attacking midfielder has lost his way in recent times but was once dubbed a ‘special’ talent by former manager Mark Bowen, who coached him at his former club.

Ejaria has accumulated 135 appearances in the Championship, scoring 10 and assisting 13, with his positional versatility shining through.

The former England under-21 international has played as a wing-back, central midfielder and attacking midfielder as well as on the wing during his career.

Still only 26, Wrexham should perhaps take a chance on Ejaria as a squad player, who can offer quality cover in the central attacking positions and on the flanks.

Josh Coburn

Josh Coburn is an alternative striker Wrexham could target in the final days of the window if a transfer for Smith falls through.

The Middlesbrough forward could be available for a loan, as with the arrival of Bristol City’s Tommy Conway, the 21-year-old is now third in the pecking order under Michael Carrick.

Coburn is a clinical finisher of chances and since stepping up to the Championship, he’s fired 10 goals in 46 appearances for Boro, while in a loan spell at Bristol Rovers in 2022/23, the youngster hit double figures in League One.

This season, Coburn even scored and assisted in Middlesbrough’s 3-0 hammering of Leeds United in the Carabao Cup; a feat that should see Wrexham come calling for his signature.
