Wrexham transfer target Bailey Cadamarteri is now set to join a League One rival this month.
The Red Dragons need to sign a new striker before the close of the transfer window next week.
Paul Mullin is injured after undergoing surgery over the summer and has missed the opening of the 2024/25 campaign for Wrexham.
This has left Phil Parkinson forced to deploy a front two of Ollie Palmer and Jack Marriott, with Steven Fletcher acting as backup from the bench.
Marriott scored a wonder goal when Wrexham beat Wycombe Wanderers 3-2 but that was only his second goal for the club since he signed in January.
Palmer and Fletcher, meanwhile, only netted eight goals each in 2023/24 and may struggle to even match those tallies now the club are playing in League One.
In turn, the Welsh outfit have been linked with a plethora of centre-forward options over the last month or so.
Wrexham were ‘front-runners’ for Bailey Cadamarteri last month, aiming to take the Sheffield Wednesday forward on loan.
However, Parkinson is now set to miss out on the striker, with League One rivals Lincoln City close to signing Cadamarteri.
With this in mind, here are three alternatives Wrexham can now sign instead of the Sheffield Wednesday attacker.

Khayon Edwards
With Wrexham having been eyeing a loan deal for Cadamarteri, it makes sense for them to continue exploring a temporary transfer this month.
One player who could be perfect for this is Khayon Edwards, who is part of Arsenal’s academy.
The 20-year-old was a standout performer for their U18 side, scoring 23 goals and providing nine assists in 41 matches.
The hitman then made the step up to the U23 team, for whom he has found the net 14 times and provided four assists in 36 games.
His superb form has continued into the current campaign, with Edwards scoring a brace as Arsenal’s U21s beat Manchester United 4-2 on August 16th.
With no first-team experience yet under his belt, Wrexham would be the perfect club for him to take the next step in his career.

Josh Coburn
Another loan option for Wrexham this month could be Middlesbrough’s Josh Coburn.
The striker has fallen down the pecking order at the Riverside Stadium this season after Boro signed Tommy Conway from Bristol City.
The 22-year-old is a proven Championship goalscorer and provided one goal and one assist during Boro’s 3-0 hammering of Leeds United in the League Cup earlier this month.
However, Michael Carrick only plays one centre-forward and with Coburn now third choice, he needs to start playing on a more regular basis to continue his development.

Donnell McNeilly
If Coburn does not want to make the step down to League One, there are plenty of young Premier League strikers who would jump at the chance to play regular senior football at that level.
One of those players is Chelsea youngster Donnell McNeilly who, like Edwards, is still waiting for a taste of senior football.
Despite his limited experience, McNeily could prove to be a very shrewd addition for Wrexham.
McNeilly has an impressive record for Chelsea’s U18 team, scoring 34 and assisting 10 in 43 games.
He has made the step up to U21 level this month but after only playing 31 minutes in the Blues’ first two fixtures of 2024/25, the teenager may be open to a move away.
