Wrexham could take advantage of some player’s contract situations to land themselves a few bargains this month.

Wrexham are expected to be active in January, with a striker seemingly the main priority for the club right now.

However, with other areas of their squad still potentially needing to be improved, the Red Dragons should now start targeting players in the final six months of their contracts to try and land some bargain deals.

Wrexham need cover for Elliot Lee as, right now, they don’t have any other natural number 10-style players on their books.

In turn, we have taken a look at three players in the final six months of their current deals that the Welsh outfit could try to sign in January for reduced fees.

Ilias Chair

As already mentioned, some proper cover for star man Lee should be looked at by Wrexham this month.

One player who would fit that profile perfectly is Queens Park Rangers midfielder, Ilias Chair.

Chair’s 2024/25 campaign has been hampered by injury issues but he has proven previously he is a Championship-quality player.

He has scored 35 and assisted 38 for QPR during his time at the club and has over 220 Championship appearances under his belt.

Joao Pedro

Wrexham want to sign a centre-forward this month and would prefer an option with Championship or Premier League experience.

And Hull City striker Joao Pedro fits that bill perfectly, having scored four goals in 16 appearances for the struggling Tiggers so far this term.

He also has a wealth of experience in Europe – netting 71 and assisting 20 in 218 Serie A outings.

Granted, the 32-year-old is not really a long-term option but he could be just what Wrexham need to get them over the line in the second half of 2024/25.

Nathan Redmond

Wrexham’s promotion rivals Birmingham City are looking to sign Nathan Redmond from Burnley this month.

But the Welsh team should now be aiming to rival the Blues for the former Premier League forward.

Not only would this stop Birmingham, who are already top of League One, from landing a quality asset, but it would strengthen Wrexham massively.

Remond is yet to make an appearance in 2024/25 but has over 300 appearances in the Premier League and Championship as well as 122 career goal contributions.
