Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson must have a plan for one looming concern that could hinder the Red Dragons this season.
Wrexham have added many players to the ranks in the summer transfer window, with Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac providing plenty of financial support for Phil Parkinson to mould his squad.
Significant investment in Parkinson’s squad has seen a flurry of attackers arrive at the Racecourse Ground, with Wrexham signing Nathan Broadhead notably joining for a hefty £10m fee, whilst Kieffer Moore, Josh Windass, and Ryan Hardie have also arrived from rival Championship clubs.
Defenders have also been brought through the door, such as Conor Coady and Liberato Cacace, whilst the midfield has also been bolstered.
However, options in the centre of the park are still rather light, which could cause issues for Wrexham, particularly if they suffer injuries. Here are three ways in which Wrexham could quash what could become a prominent concern…

Phil Parkinson could alter Wrexham’s formation
Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has opted for a midfield three so far in the Championship, and whilst this can prove to be effective, it could cause concerns if any Red Dragons players pick up an injury.
It is a very demanding formation regarding the number of central midfielders required, and whilst Parkinson has sufficient numbers to fill the spots on the pitch, there is very little depth behind the existing trio of Lewis O’Brien, George Dobson, and Matty James.
In games that Wrexham will be keen to go on the front foot, a more attacking variation that sees one of the central midfielders step further forward and sit behind the strikers could work brilliantly, and could then give the Red Dragons boss the opportunity to play Nathan Broadhead in behind both Kieffer Moore and Ryan Hardie.

Phil Parkinson could turn towards the loan market
Wrexham have not made use of the loan market so far in the summer transfer window, and that could prove to be a missed opportunity by the Red Dragons hierarchy.
Financially, it makes sense for the club to turn towards loans, and also so they are not held down to keep players in the long-term, making sure that Parkinson’s options do not become bloated.
Several Premier League clubs would be keen to lend their young central midfielders to a club such as Wrexham, and it would be a brilliant way for Wrexham to add further squad depth.

Wrexham could turn towards wildcard Liberato Cacace
Whilst on the surface it may seem a bizarre decision to utilise Liberato Cacace in the centre of the park, the New Zealand international actually found himself playing centrally at times for Empoli in Serie A.
The decision behind bringing Cacace to the Racecourse Ground was surely made even more appealing because of his versatility, and it would be no surprise to see him utilised across the pitch at times this season.
Of course this would leave a void on the left flank, but it would then provide an opportunity for James McClean to step into the fray and cause havoc.
