Wrexham have a lot to thank Steven Fletcher for this season after he scored yet another winning goal in the victory over Huddersfield Town.
Football is a team game and collectively Wrexham deserve to be third in League One fighting for promotion however, the experience and ability to produce clutch moments has been vital from Steven Fletcher.
Fans were raving about Fletcher after his winner against Huddersfield and that was his fifth winning goal this season already for the Red Dragons.
Ollie Rathbone has spoken about Fletcher’s positive influence in the dressing room and it seems that the Scot is really enjoying his time at the Racecourse Ground. Although, there is an elephant in the room when it comes to his future plans.

Steven Fletcher’s comments before joining Wrexham should worry owners
Fletcher’s contract runs out at the end of the season and after scoring seven goals this season, the 37-year-old has more than shown that it is worth extending his stay in North Wales.
Fletcher has a better record than Jay Stansfield in terms of goal per 90 minutes this season but Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney should be worried about the future of the star striker.
Speaking on season 3 episode 2 of the ‘Welcome to Wrexham‘ documentary, Fletcher revealed that he was considering retirement before joining the Red Dragons.

He stated: “When I left Dundee United, I’m not going to lie in the back of my mind I was thinking is that me done. I was half thinking do I just now concentrate on my family being a dad and a husband on a day to day basis.”
Now 37 and having spent almost two seasons at the club, Fletcher may feel that now is the time to hang up his boots and concentrate on life away from the game.
Wrexham should convince Fletcher to sign a new contract
Phil Parkinson has an array of attacking talent at his disposal and Fletcher has been impressed with the January signings of Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez.
However, there is a real struggle for form amongst the striker options in the Wrexham squad currently and arguably Fletcher is the most in form out of the lot.

There are already doubts over the futures of Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer following their exile from recent matchday squads and Modou Faal has yet to be really trusted in the league.
With Jack Marriott also having faced a lengthy spell on the sidelines, it would be a smart move from the club to tie Fletcher down once again to provide his experience in the dressing room and moments of magic on the pitch.
