Wrexham decided to loan out Paul Mullin this summer, but Phil Parkinson may need to speak to the attacker this weekend.
Paul Mullin lost favour under Phil Parkinson in early 2025 before joining Wigan Athletic on a season-long loan deal.
Mullin has matched his Wrexham record in League One with the Latics already, netting three goals so far this term.
His goal return is only expected to increase in the coming months, with the striker set for a key role at Wigan after their Carabao Cup exit on Tuesday.
While Mullin will not play in the Carabao Cup for the remainder of the season, Wrexham are taking on Cardiff City in the fourth round, and the loanee could give Parkinson some valuable insight into the Welsh rivals.

Why Phil Parkinson may contact Wrexham loanee Paul Mullin
Wrexham are now competing in the Championship and will take on Welsh rivals Swansea City on two occasions this season.
However, Cardiff were relegated from the second tier last term and are now in League One.
The Bluebirds have had a terrific start to 2025/26 and can climb above Bradford City into first place if they win their game in hand.
Cardiff are next in action on September 27 when they face off with Mullin’s Wigan at the DW Stadium.
Mullin is expected to start, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see Parkinson contacting the on-loan striker post-match to gain a more detailed insight into how Cardiff play and areas of weakness Wrexham may be able to exploit.

Paul Mullin on Phil Parkinson relationship
As mentioned, the 30-year-old lost his place in the team in late January 2025.
Not only was the Wrexham legend not being named in the eleven, he didn’t even get on the bench after January 28 until the end of the 2024/25 League One season.
Mullin commented on his relationship with Parkinson after he was dropped from the side, suggesting there was a trust issue on the manager’s end.
He said in the latest season of Welcome to Wrexham: “I don’t know, it’s been difficult, I don’t know what’s caused him to trust me less but he clearly does. Obviously, he wants the best for the team.”
