Wrexham are continuing to turn heads in the transfer window this summer.

Having already broken the club’s transfer record twice, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are keeping true to their word and are set to splash the cash once again.

Wrexham have agreed a fee for Nathan Broadhead from Ipswich Town believed to be worth around £7.5m.

It would be another huge statement of intent from Wrexham ahead of the Championship campaign and Wrexham Insider has analysed the impact Broadhead’s potential arrival would have on the current squad.

Winners from a Nathan Broadhead transfer to Wrexham

Phil Parkinson

Phil Parkinson would have been concerned flying back from the club’s pre-season trip to Australia and New Zealand.

Results don’t carry great significance in pre-season but the manner of the performances against Sydney and Wellington would have filled the Wrexham manager with dread heading into the new campaign.

Since returning, Parkinson has been backed in the transfer market and is starting to shape a squad with incredible depth and real experience of what it takes to be successful in the Championship.

Parkinson’s Championship record is not the best, but with a player like Broadhead at the spearhead of his attack, he has a player that has proven he is more than capable of scoring consistently at this level.

Josh Windass

Josh Windass has been brought to the club to be the creative spark in the side – the player that makes things happen in the final third.

Wrexham have lacked some inventiveness in recent seasons and Windass will be pleased to see yet another potent attacking force arriving in front of him.

Windass has been welcomed by his Wrexham teammates and will now be eager to make his mark on the side.

Having a player like Broadhead to work with will only enhance his output next season with the Welsh international adept at holding the ball up and making direct runs into the channels.

Losers from a Nathan Broadhead transfer to Wrexham

Sam Smith

Sam Smith may be starting to wonder what he has done wrong at the club amidst a host of signings in his position.

Smith has been Wrexham’s main man since joining the club in January and was confident of proving that he could deliver in the second tier.

Injury has hampered his pre-season with the 27-year-old yet to play a minute this campaign and following the arrival of Ryan Hardie, Smith now has Broadhead to contend with too.

Wrexham are still interested in Kieffer Moore and all of a sudden, Smith has gone from being at the very top of the pecking order to really fearing for his place next season.

Jay Rodriguez

Jay Rodriguez will be another player considering what his future holds in North Wales after seeing yet another forward join the ranks.

Rodriguez struggled to make a significant impact on the side last season after joining from Burnley in the January transfer window but his experience in the dressing room proved invaluable.

He would have been hoping that a full pre-season with the club would have enabled him to spearhead the attack alongside Smith once again.

However, the arrivals of Windass and Hardie, as well as the potential signings of Broadhead and Moore would indicate that 35-year-old has moved out of Parkinson’s plans.

Harry Ashfield

Harry Ashfield was the one real positive from Wrexham’s tour down under and may have been thinking that he had done enough to work his way into the reckoning for the first-team squad.

Wrexham fans praised Ashfield for his composed displays during pre-season and the 18-year-old did his chances of impressing Parkinson no harm whatsoever.

However, the arrival of Broadhead could be the ultimate signal that Ashfield will be loaned out this summer in order to gain regular first-team experience.

Although he will be disappointed initially, it will prove to be the best decision for his future and he can return to the club next summer having developed his game further.
