Wrexham have splashed the cash on new signings of late, but Phil Parkinson appears to have another big-money signing in mind.
Wrexham were expected to splash the cash this summer as Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds prepare to challenge in the Championship.
Early business was a touch slow, with bargain additions Ryan Hardie and Danny Ward the first to arrive.
Wrexham have started spending of late, though, with Liberato Cacace joining from Empoli in a seven-figure move.
George Thomason then joined Wrexham for £1.2million from Bolton Wanderers, before Josh Windass arrived on a free transfer.
Phil Parkinson wasn’t done, landing Lewis O’Brien from Nottingham Forest in a deal which could eclipse the record set for Cacace.

Wrexham to ‘push the boat out’ for Kieffer Moore
Parkinson’s spending may continue, as recent reports have suggested that Wrexham are interested in signing Kieffer Moore from Sheffield United.
Blades boss Ruben Selles has been coy over Moore’s future, having failed to even bring him off the bench against Chesterfield over the weekend.
The giant Welsh international appears to be available, and we know how Parkinson loves to play with a target man in attack.
The Sun’s Alan Nixon now claims that Wrexham are ready to push the boat out in order to sign Moore.
It’s stated that a transfer fee for Moore is likely to cost around £4million, while Wrexham are even prepared to improve on his £30,000-a-week wages at Bramall Lane.
This would be a hefty commitment from Wrexham, but Nixon was on the ball over Wrexham’s move to sign O’Brien last week, so these claims over Moore are very interesting.
Kieffer Moore’s Championship record in focus
Giant 6ft 5in striker Moore started in non-league football with Truro City and Dorchester Town and earned himself a move to Yeovil Town, where he even played as a central defender.
Moore had a brief spell in Norway with Viking, but then started to impress with Forest Green Rovers and Torquay United.
Moore has now racked up 200 Championship appearances, starting with a goalless, 11-game spell with Ipswich Town.
The Welshman racked up 13 goals in 22 games for Rotherham United in League One before returning to the Championship with Barnsley in January 2018.
Four goals in 20 games were not enough to keep Barnsley in the Championship, but his 17 goals in 31 League One games sparked a move to Wigan Athletic.
Moore hasn’t looked back since, scoring 10 goals in 36 Championship games for the Latics before netting 25 goals in 64 Championship outings at Cardiff City.
Moore only played four games for Bournemouth after a January 2022 move, but still managed four goals and then scored four times in the Premier League.
Ipswich re-signed Moore in 2024, and his seven goals in 18 Championship games helped them clinch promotion.
Moore returned to the Championship with Sheffield United last summer, scoring five league goals to help the Blades reach the play-off final.
All of that means Moore’s Championship record stands at 59 goals in 200 games, while chipping in with 15 assists.
Parkinson clearly believes that Moore can make a big impact in the Championship once more, and he could be the next big signing as the Wrexham recruitment drive continues.
