Wrexham have promotion aspirations in 2024/25 but may struggle if they do not improve one thing.
Club football is back in full force this weekend with Wrexham taking on Rotherham United on Saturday, October 19th.
The Red Dragons go into the game aiming to pick up where they left off prior to the international break.
Wrexham smashed Northampton Town 4-1 at the Racecourse Ground earlier this month, maintaining second place in the League One table as a result.
However, Wrexham have a low chance of winning automatic promotion in 2024/25, according to a recent list released by Opta.
The Welsh side are the ninth most likely team to secure a place in the Championship via the automatic-promotion places at present.
Owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have been told why Wrexham will not win the League One title this season, with Birmingham City the clear favourites.
Wrexham underperforming in one area compared to rest of League One
And if they are to fend off competition from the likes of Mansfield Town, Lincoln City and Wycombe Wanders, it is clear Wrexham need to improve in one area and the stats prove it.
TWI have taken a look at some key League One stats via Fbref and it is obvious Phil Parkinson’s side must start improving their shooting.
Wrexham have managed 106 shots in their first 10 league fixtures this term, the 13th-lowest in the division.
Their shots-on-target total (41) puts them slightly higher in the League One rankings (10th), but they are still well off the pace of some of the other promotion contenders.
The per 90 stats do not make for great reading either. Wrexham have managed an average of 10.6 shots per 90, the 16th-lowest in the third tier right now.
Should the Hollywood-owned club continue to underperform in the shooting department, it could come back to bite them in the League One promotion race.

Wrexham strikers need to step up
Jack Marriott has had a solid start to 2024/25 and his five goals make him the joint-second-highest scorer in League One right now.
However, outside of Marriott, the rest of Wrexham’s forwards are struggling in front of goal.
Parkinson has been told Steven Fletcher is not good enough to start for the club anymore after some poor displays recently.
Elsewhere, the Welsh outfit have had to rely on the likes of midfielder Elliot Lee and centre-back Max Cleworth to step up and provide the goals as Ollie Palmer, Paul Mullin and Fletcher have not scored enough goals to make it onto the League One top-scorers list.
