Elliot Lee has been immense for Wrexham since his arrival in 2022 but the club don’t really have any natural backup for him at present.
Elliot Lee joined Wrexham on a free transfer from Luton Town in July 2022 and what a signing he has been.
The midfielder scored 14 across all competitions during the club’s National League-winning campaign.
Lee shone even more in League Two, netting an impressive 16 goals and providing five assists.
The 30-year-old’s superb form has continued into the current campaign with six goals and two assists – sitting as the Red Dragons’ joint-top scorer in League One.
However, Lee has injury problems currently, which have seen him miss three of the Welsh outfit’s last four games.
In his absence, Lee’s importance to Wrexham has been highlighted, with it clear there’s no natural cover for him in the squad right now.

Wrexham should rival Bolton Wanderers for Elliot Lee cover
When not fit or when playing out of position up front this season, George Dobson and Ollie Rathbone have both operated as the most advanced midfielders instead of the Durham-born star.
However, without the former Luton man in midfield, Wrexham’s ability to create chances through the centre of the pitch has been stifled.
In turn, a new number 10-style player should be signed in January and the Red Dragons must look to rival Bolton Wanders for the perfect option.
According to Peterborough Today, Bolton Wanderers are looking to sign Joel Randall from Peterborough United.
The 25-year-old has seven goals and four assists in 25 appearances across all competitions this season and would be great cover for Lee.

What Wrexham fans should know about Joel Randall
Randall joined Peterborough from Exeter City in 2021 for a fee of around £1m.
He is a natural left-winger by trade but has been converted into a number 10, thriving in his new role.
Speaking in late 2023, as per Peterborough Today, manager Darren Ferguson discussed what a top talent he is.
Ferguson said: “Joel was predominantly a left winger when we signed him for a lot of money. But for one reason or another, mainly injuries, he really hadn’t got going in two years. He also had players ahead of him who were performing better in his position.
“With him this season I had to make decision on whether to give him something he’d never had before, namely five or six games in a row, and it would be as a number 10.
“And because of the way we went with a young squad this season I made the conscious decision to stick with him regardless of form. I told him what I was doing and he appreciated it, and it certainly helped him.
“He has a lot of talent and he’s shown it this season as he’s been very good for us.”
Randall has now notched over 100 appearances for The Posh, with the majority of his goal contributions coming after his position change in 2023.
