Wrexham are set to jet off on their Wrex-Coast pre-season tour with several players keen to impress manager Phil Parkinson.

With pre-season underway, several Wrexham players are keen to hit the ground running and regain form.

In late July, the Red Dragons are set to face Premier League duo AFC Bournemouth and Chelsea before flying to Canada to face MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps.

The North Wales side kicked off their pre-season with a trip to Stoke-on-Trent to face Hanley Town.

Phil Parkinson was impressed with his side’s 5-1 win, with several players showcasing their quality.

The former Sunderland manager is keen to rotate his squad in pre-season to give every player a chance to regain fitness and show what they can offer the 56-year-old coach.

One Wrexham star who has taken that opportunity is midfielder Jordan Davies, who is keen to return to full fitness and make an impact for the Red Dragons.

Wrexham man Jordan Davies impressed in Hanley Town Friendly

Wrexham faced Hanley Town in their first pre-season fixture for the 2024/25 season.

It gave a perfect opportunity for players who were struggling with injuries and form last campaign, to show their worth to the manager and compete for a starting place on the Wrex-Coast Tour.

In the 5-1 victory at Potteries Park, midfielder Davies impressed scoring two of Wrexham’s five goals.

The 25-year-old midfielder will be pleased with his first outing this season but remain focused on gaining Parkinson’s trust for a starting role in the coming season.

The quality level in League One is expected to be higher and pre-season offers a golden chance for Davies to show his worth to the former Bradford City coach.

Wrexham’s Wrex-coast tour offers Jordan Davies a golden opportunity

The main priority for pre-season is for the players to regain match fitness. The manager will be hoping he doesn’t suffer any injury blows in the coming tour.

However, the tour also offers a golden chance for the likes of Davies to regain their form.
The midfielder suffered several injuries and it certainly hampered his campaign. After an impressive outing against Hanley, he can regain his confidence and continue to showcase his talent on the tour.

Davies showed that he possesses a goal threat from midfield, which offers him an opportunity to compete with Andy Cannon.
The midfield is inflated with the summer arrival of George Dobson, but Dobson is a defensive midfielder and would complement the goal-scoring midfielder.

The Wrex-Coast tour provides Davies with the chance to show the manager his talent and the opportunity to form a good relationship with the new-look midfield. If he can remain fit, he will be hoping he can force himself into Parkinson’s plans for League One this season.
