One Wrexham summer signing has already proven his quality in Phil Parkinson’s side, leading the way in the Championship in one crucial area.

Wrexham beat Norwich City 3-2 on their travels, helping the Red Dragons rise to 15th in the Championship.

Phil Parkinson’s side now have two wins under their belt in the Championship, with Wrexham notching two successive victories on the road.

While Josh Windass stole the show for Wrexham, with Ryan Longman also getting on the scoresheet, several Red Dragons’ stars shone in the victory.

The summer signings appear to have integrated brilliantly, with Issa Kabore proving to be a fine talent, while Lewis O’Brien once again performed brilliantly in the centre of the park.

O’Brien’s abilities often go under the radar, but his recent performances are best summed up by one statistic that he leads in the Championship.

Lewis O’Brien leads the Championship in chances created

According to SofaScore, Wrexham star Lewis O’Brien leads the Championship in big chances created, having notched six so far this season alongside Stoke City’s Sorba Thomas.

This shows that, while Phil Parkinson’s tactical set-up has received scrutiny at times this season, with many suggesting that it may not be the most effective at Championship level, it is clear that chances are being created by Wrexham.

Wrexham have struggled to translate their chances into goals recently, with Parkinson having to rely on the efforts of Kieffer Moore to finish most chances. However, the win against Norwich City proved that Josh Windass can also offer a brilliant goalscoring output.

Lewis O’Brien deserves more praise for start at Wrexham

Wrexham supporters have heaped praise on the attacking talents that the club currently houses, notably Kieffer Moore and Josh Windass, but Lewis O’Brien has been just as crucial for the Red Dragons this season.

The 26-year-old already has two goals to his name, and has played every minute of the 2025/26 Championship season, where he has been crucial in the build-up to Wrexham’s attacks.

Out of all of the summer transfer business that Phil Parkinson indulged in this summer, the Wrexham midfielder stands head and shoulders above many as a pivotal part of the boss’s plans.

O’Brien’s talents at Championship level were known before his arrival, but he has managed not to get sidetracked by the expectations and has been pivotal in Wrexham’s success so far.
