Wrexham striker Ollie Palmer is looking increasingly likely to leave the club this summer.

Phil Parkinson told Palmer he could leave this summer with the club having already added Ryan Hardie to their attacking options.

Wrexham are willing to spend £10m on a striker and that would leave Palmer too far down the pecking order to feature, despite making three appearances on the tour down under.

There are many clubs that would benefit from having Palmer at the focal point of their attack but thanks to a meeting with Wrexham owner Rob McElhenney, the striker may already be thinking about life after football.

Ollie Palmer revealed ‘amazing’ meeting with Rob McElhenney over building future revenue for the Wrexham players

Speaking on season three episode four of the ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ documentary series, Palmer revealed how McElhenney spoke with the Wrexham players about building future careers outside of football.

Palmer stated: “Rob [McElhenney] had a meeting with us last season and it was amazing, he came out and said listen lads.”

McElhenney then went on to tell the Wrexham squad: “I just want to have a quick conversation with you that has nothing to do with what’s happening on the pitch.

“I work in the same business as you do in so far as our careers are short and we need to maximise our potential for as much as we possibly can. So whether that means actual advice, we’re here for you or actual exposure or help getting some of those things started.

“We want to help you build that ability to help generate revenue for your family both in the short term and in the long term.”

Palmer was astonished by the generosity shown by the Wrexham owners and compared it to some of his past experiences with chairmen in football.

He explained: “I’ve had chairmen in the past that don’t even f—–g pay us. Like what a f—–g bloke.”

Ollie Palmer’s Wxm clothing continues to grow in popularity

Palmer himself continues to enjoy success in the fashion industry following the launch of his own clothing brand WXM clothing.

The company is now one of the fastest-growing brands in the UK streetwear industry and goes from strength to strength with the exposure from the documentary series.

It goes to show that both McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have not just got their own agenda in owning the football club and genuinely want to help those people involved with not only the club itself but the town of Wrexham.

Palmer’s footballing future may lie away from the Racecourse Ground come the end of the transfer window, but his heart and love for the club will never depart.
