Wrexham were taken over by Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds in 2021, and the duo wasted little time making big changes.
After arriving in February 2021, they watched on as Wrexham failed to make the National League play-offs in 2020/21.
Once that season ended, Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac set about funding the Dragons’ transformation, which has seen them climb three divisions in four campaigns.
Dean Keates was sacked and replaced in the dugout by long-time manager Phil Parkinson.
Elsewhere, a host of players were let go, with an influx of new talent signed in the summer of 2021.
Liam McAlinden scored one goal for Wrexham
A number of top names like Paul Mullin and Aaron Hayden arrived in that window and would go on to play crucial roles in the club’s subsequent promotion from the National League.
However, Liam McAlinden failed to cement a regular place in the side.
Wrexham signed McAlinden on July 9, 2021, on a free transfer from Morecambe FC.
He was a regular feature under Parkinson early in 2021/22, featuring in 11 of their opening 12 league matches.
However, the now 32-year-old lost his place as the campaign progressed, and Ollie Palmer was signed from AFC Wimbledon in January 2022.
McAlinden finished 2021/22 with 34 appearances and one goal to his name at Wrexham.
The natural centre-forward, who ended up playing in several other positions, spent another two years in North Wales, making a total of 55 appearances, scoring one and assisting zero.

Where is Liam McAlinden now?
Eventually, Wrexham let McAlinden leave on a free transfer in 2024, with the attacker signing for Scunthorpe United.
He went on to make 11 appearances for Scunthorpe, in which he scored one goal.
McAlinden departed the National League side in August 2024, moving to Rushall.
They compete in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, which is the seventh tier of English football.
The former Wrexham man remains on their books at the time of writing.
