Rob Mac says Wrexham player who has lost his place in Championship eleven is a ‘killer’

Rob Mac has been commenting on several Wrexham players this week, including one star who has lost his place in the Championship eleven.

Wrexham signed 13 players during the 2025 summer transfer window, bringing a lot of new competition into the squad.

As expected, it means Phil Parkinson’s team looks a lot different from the one we saw line out in 2024/25.

A new-look strike force is already in place, with the majority of last season’s attackers, barring Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez (not in the Championship squad), having left the club.

Further back, Wrexham have a new-look defence following the additions of players like Callum Doyle, Dom Hyam and Conor Coady.

Now, Rob Mac has been commenting on one defender who has lost his spot in Parkinson’s Championship starting line-up.

Rob Mac gives verdict on Lewis Brunt

Lewis Brunt began the 2025/26 season in a back-three alongside Coady and Max Cleworth.

However, Wrexham then signed Callum Doyle on a permanent basis from Manchester City in August.

Doyle has since gone on to start against Millwall, Queens Park Rangers and Norwich City in Brunt’s preferred left-centre-back role.

He came off the bench for 45 minutes versus Norwich and looked sharp, but the 24-year-old hasn’t been named in the Championship eleven since August 23 against Sheffield Wednesday.

Mac is still clearly a fan, though. The co-owner was asked to describe various players with one word by the club’s social media team.

When doing so, he called Ryan Barnett a ‘magician’, Arthur Okonkwo ‘tall’, Sam Smith a ‘dancer’ and Lewis Brunt a ‘killer’.

Wrexham fans praise Lewis Brunt

Wrexham host Derby County in their next Championship fixture on Saturday, September 27.

Prior to that, the Dragons beat Reading 2-0 in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening.

After their triumph in the cup, Wrexham fans praised Brunt, who started the clash and was superb.

It was only their second clean sheet of the season in all competitions, and the centre-back played a key role in making that happen.
