Wrexham succumbed to another defeat on the last leg of their pre-season tour down under.

Phil Parkinson’s side were beaten 1-0 by a vibrant Wellington Phoenix side thanks to an error from goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo.

Ollie Palmer showed his frustrations during the game after his late equaliser was ruled out for handball after controlling a cross in the penalty area.

Wrexham found it difficult to create chances throughout the match and after it was confirmed that Liberato Cacace had signed for the club, supporters have made it clear what they want to see next.

Wrexham fans demand a ‘creative’ midfield signing

Wrexham currently have no further friendlies scheduled before their Championship season opener, although there are plans to add two more matches upon return to the UK.

Another drab performance has left supporters crying out for more creativity in midfield and have taken to X to voice their opinions.

One fan wrote: “I get that it’s pre season and it’s about fitness but it’s the same old boring to the wing and cross, it’s too predictable there is no creativity whatsoever.”

Another fan pointed to the importance of Ollie Rathbone to the side, they wrote: “We lacked creativity in midfield. Shows how crucial Rathbone is for this team.”

One Wrexham supporter just had one simple message for Parkinson and the recruitment team, they stated: “Creative midfielder next please.”

Which ‘creative’ players are Wrexham linked with?

The Red Dragons have been linked with moves for a number of midfielders and whilst a bid has been accepted for Lewis O’Brien, there are concerns over his willingness to move to the Racecourse.

Tom Lawrence is available on a free transfer but one former Red Dragon may be the man to add that ‘creative’ spark to the midfield.

Davis Keillor-Dunn has been backed to move to Wrexham and could be available in a £3m deal from Barnsley.

With 19 goals in all competitions last season, he certainly has an eye for goal, as well as an excellent range of passing.

Finding that link between midfield and the front two has been an ongoing problem for the Red Dragons and the supporters are now demanding that the solution is found in the market this summer.
