Wrexham have missed out on a summer transfer target to a Championship rival.

The 2025 summer transfer window officially shut at 7pm BST on Monday, September 1.

But deal sheets allow teams to complete deals beyond the stated deadline.

On that front, Wrexham are still pushing to sign two players on Monday evening.

Ben Sheaf has already signed, but two more arrivals could still be announced by Phil Parkinson’s side.

However, one player the Welsh outfit wanted this summer has now moved to a Championship rival.

Leicester City confirm signing of Wrexham target Jordan James

Jordan James emerged as a Wrexham target towards the back end of August.

Phil Parkinson commented on signing James recently, saying: “He’s a player we’ve looked at, also I know him from his time at Birmingham as well and followed his progress in the Welsh team and Rennes.

“Obviously (he’s) a good player, but he’s just one of a lot of players we’ve looked at over the last month or so.”

However, Leicester City have, on the evening of September 1, announced the signing of the former Birmingham City midfielder.

James has signed for the Foxes on a season-long loan deal.

What Jordan James said about joining Leicester City

James has commented on moving to the King Power Stadium for 2025/26.

He stated: “I’m very happy and I can’t wait to get started. When Leicester came calling, it was something I was really open to. This year my aim is to help the Club and help my team-mates get the Club back to where it should be.

“I’ve always thought highly of Leicester, I like the way they play and I think this is a move that really suits me. I just can’t wait to get going and help the team.”

Wrexham missed out on James but signed three midfielders during the summer transfer window.

Lewis O’Brien, George Thomason and Sheaf have strengthened the Dragons in the middle of the park, while George Evans has left.
