Wrexham are still eyeing attacking additions even after signing Ryan Hardie, and two targets have now become available.

Wrexham are set to land summer signing number three as Phil Parkinson targets new additions for the Championship campaign.

Danny Ward and Ryan Hardie have joined Wrexham this summer, and one more addition appears to be close.

Reports in Italy claim that Empoli’s Liberato Cacace is poised to join Wrexham in a new club-record fee.

The New Zealand international will represent a major coup for Wrexham, and Parkinson won’t be done just yet.

Wrexham continue to be linked with attackers even after signing Hardie, and a couple of targets are now available for free.

Sheffield Wednesday confirm Josh Windass and Michael Smith exits

Reports suggest Wrexham are interested in signing Josh Windass, though his former club Rangers are also keen.

Windass has been expected to leave Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer this summer, even with a year left on his contract.

The Owls have hit financial problems, and unpaid wages mean players like Windass have been chasing exits.

Wednesday have now confirmed that both Windass and Michael Smith have left the club, with their contracts now ‘terminated by mutual consent’.

Wrexham will be very interested in this situation – and not just for Windass.

Smith is believed to be on Wrexham’s radar once again, having been targeted by Parkinson both last summer and in January.

The giant target man slipped through Wrexham’s net on both occasions, but he is now available as a free agent.

Wrexham have decisions to make on Windass and Smith

Smith is a tricky evaluation.

The 33-year-old forward is a proven force at League One level, and Parkinson’s interest was understandable, especially with Ollie Palmer’s role diminishing.

Parkinson must now weigh up whether Smith can still make an impact in the Championship.

Smith scored eight times in 41 games last season, which isn’t a bad return, but Wrexham may now aim even higher in the Championship.

Windass racked up 13 goals last season and appeals to us a little more than Smith.

A versatile forward who can play in a number of different roles and formations, Windass is a proven force in the Championship and still has plenty left in the tank at 31.

Other Championship clubs will be interested, but if Wrexham have a genuine chance to sign Windass on a free transfer, we would expect Parkinson to push hard for his signature.
