Wrexham have revamped their squad for the new season, with one new player coming in for special praise.

The Red Dragons had a slightly slow start to the 2025 summer transfer window, but business swiftly picked up when their pre-season tour of Australia was coming to an end.

Ahead of Wrexham taking on Southampton, the Welsh outfit have sanctioned eight new signings this summer.

They have broken their transfer record twice, adding Championship and Premier League experience to their squad.

Now, Ben Tozer has singled out one new arrival as a ‘massive’ addition for Wrexham.

Ben Tozer praises ‘massive’ Wrexham signing

Tozer left Wrexham in 2024 after winning two promotions with the Welsh giants.

He has continued to show his support for Wrexham, though, including travelling to Australia along with Ben Foster for their recent tour.

Tozer has praised Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac for the club’s transfer business so far this summer.

And when discussing the new arrivals at the Racecourse Ground, he earmarked Conor Coady as a top signing.

As per BBC Sport, he said: “I was so happy when he [Coady] signed.

“He is a massive piece of the jigsaw because he will help sort the dressing room and keep those standards and everyone singing off the same hymn sheet.”

Conor Coady could be Wrexham’s new Ben Tozer

Tozer arrived from Cheltenham Town in 2021 and was instantly a key figure in Phil Parkinson’s backline.

He provided leadership and experience in the back-three, which Coady should now bring to Wrexham.

A new central centre-back was needed this summer, and the former Wolverhampton Wanderers man should fill that role well.

He has excelled as part of a back-five for the likes of Wolves and England in the past and should be able to help out the younger and less experienced duo of Max Cleworth and Lewis Brunt.
