Wrexham have snapped up George Dobson and it looks like one rumoured midfield target is now heading elsewhere this summer.

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson understandably wanted to add quality to his midfield ranks this summer.

Luke Young was allowed to leave the club this summer with the veteran securing a move to Cheltenham Town.

George Dobson has now been snapped up to replace Young, handing Wrexham a proven League One midfielder and a leadership figure in the middle of the pitch.

There are more questions though as Jordan Davies endured a frustrating campaign last season and James Jones hasn’t played since February.

There may be a temptation to bring in another midfielder this summer and we have seen both Marc Leonard and Joe Morrell linked with moves to the STōK Cae Ras.

Wrexham target Jamie Lindsay heading for Bristol Rovers

Another name prominently mentioned for a number of months now is Jamie Lindsay.

Reports before the January transfer deadline suggested that Wrexham were looking to strike a late deal to sign Lindsay from Rotherham United.

The fee involved would have been a club-record deal for Wrexham but the deadline passed without Lindsay arriving.

Lindsay decided to leave Rotherham at the end of his contract this summer and Wrexham were thought to still be interested.

However, Lindsay is now set to join another League One club – just as Millers boss Steve Evans predicted.

The Bristol Post report that Bristol Rovers are closing in on the signing of Lindsay.

It’s suggested that Lindsay is undergoing a medical with the Pirates ahead of signing on a free transfer.

The 28-year-old will now be in line to play against Wrexham in December down in Bristol before meeting at the STōK Cae Ras in April.

Manager connection key to Lindsay deal

Lindsay’s move is largely down to Bristol Rovers boss Matt Taylor.

Taylor coached Lindsay at Rotherham United and the pair appear to have struck up a decent bond.

Lindsay will now reunite with Taylor and hope for a big season in League One having just suffered relegation with Rotherham.

The Scot is now just another name to cross off the list of potential Wrexham signings, which may not be a huge surprise.

Wrexham were willing to pay up for Lindsay in January but the links this summer haven’t been nearly as strong – despite him being a free agent.

Wrexham may now focus elsewhere with Welsh international Morrell a popular shout having left Portsmouth this summer.
