Rotherham United boss Leam Richardson is expecting contract talks to ramp up in the coming weeks amid Wrexham’s interest in Jamie Lindsay.
Wrexham struck two deals late on deadline day as Phil Parkinson bolstered his squad.
Wing back Luke Bolton and striker Jack Marriott came in with the hope of securing promotion to League One.
Another deadline day move was eyed up though as Wrexham targeted Rotherham United midfielder Jamie Lindsay.
Reports indicated that a club-record deal for Lindsay was in the pipeline but the deadline passed without a move being agreed.
Parkinson even hinted that another player almost came in on deadline day – which many believe to be Lindsay – but it just wasn’t to be.
Jamie Lindsay contract to come into focus
Wrexham do still have a chance of snapping up Lindsay at the end of the season though.
The Scot is out of contract at the end of the season and could be lured to the Racecourse Ground on a free transfer.
Rotherham boss Leam Richardson has now told the Rotherham Advertiser that talks with out-of-contract players will move forward in the coming weeks with Lindsay’s deal one of those under consideration.
“In the coming weeks conversations will, I’m sure, naturally open up with certain parties and we’ll see where we go from there,” said Richardson. “Conversations need to be had and need to be escalated one way or another,” he added.

The Millers look doomed right now, sitting 14 points adrift of safety at the bottom of the Championship table.
Planning for League One is surely in mind already and Lindsay could hardly be blamed for fancying a new challenge.
The 28-year-old has been with Rotherham since 2019 and has racked up more than 150 appearances for the club, scoring eight goals.
Lindsay was an unused substitute in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Watford and the chance to join this Wrexham project may be very appealing.
Who knows, maybe Parkinson can lead another promotion-winning campaign and then land Lindsay, teeing up a potential clash against Rotherham next season.
