Wrexham are closing in on their third signing of the summer transfer window.

Wrexham are set to sign Liberato Cacace according to multiple Italian media outlets in a deal worth an initial €2.5m.

Cacace has one year left on his contract at Empoli and would join Ryan Hardie and Danny Ward as new faces through the door.

Phil Parkinson has targeted a number of defenders this summer but looks to have chosen a player who once attracted interest from Serie A giants.

Liberato Cacace was wanted by Juventus in 2021

Cacace began his career in Europe with Belgian Jupiler League outfit Sint-Truiden and it was during his spell there that he first attracted interest from Juventus.

According to New Zealand media outlet 1 News, the Champions League winners wanted to sign the left wing-back for their U23 side back in 2021 after some impressive displays.

After learning of Juventus’s interest, Cacace stated: “That’s given me a lot of confidence to keep going. Hopefully things eventuate and things can happen. It just shows that if you put your head down and work hard, anything can happen.”

Wrexham could use Cacace in a different role after the 24-year-old played a large part of last season as an attacking midfielder for Empoli.

His versatility will be just one of the attributes that has attracted Parkinson to his signature and fans can now get excited to welcome him to North Wales.

Liberato Cacace has revealed his ‘ultimate dream’ is to move to Napoli

Speaking during the interview with 1 News back in 2021, Cacace revealed that his ‘ultimate dream’ would be to sign for Juventus’s Serie A rivals Napoli.

Cacace explained: “I think that would be my dream, to sign for an Italian club in Serie A. My ultimate dream would be to play for Napoli.”

Wrexham will now be keen to get Cacace signed as quickly as possible to enable him to settle into life in North Wales and get to know his teammates and surroundings.

The Championship is an unforgiving league but a player of Cacace’s pedigree will have no trouble adapting his game and contributing in a positive way for his new side.
