Wrexham are closing in on their third signing of the 2025 summer transfer window.
After the defeat to Sydney earlier this week, Wrexham fans demanded that more signings be made.
Just a few days later, it appears they will be getting their wish in the form of Liberato Cacace.
Reports in Italy have emerged in the last 24 hours saying that Wrexham are set to sign Cacace from Empoli, who were relegated from the Serie A in 2024/25.
The deal, said to be around £2.2m, will become the club’s new transfer record – the previous being the £2.02m paid for Sam Smith.
A natural left-back, his arrival could mean Sebastian Revan is sent out on loan by Wrexham this summer.
But there is a chance Phil Parkinson plays the European star in a different role.

Wrexham issue can be eased by Liberato Cacace transfer
Should Cacace play in his natural left-back role for Wrexham, there will be a lot of competition.
James McClean has impressed in pre-season and will likely be heavily involved in 2025/26.
There is then Revan, Jacob Mendy, and Ryan Longman who could be competing for minutes on the left of the back five.
Adding Cacace to that will create a lot of competition, but instead of starting him at wing-back every week, the 24-year-old can operate in another role.
Across 2024/25, he played 17 matches on the left-hand side of defence. However, he was used as an attacking midfielder on 12 occasions, scoring two and assisting one.
Wrexham need another attacking midfielder to rival Elliot Lee and with no new arrivals on that front as of yet this summer, Parkinson could try and use his new incoming record signing in a more advanced role.

Liberato Cacace position change leaves door open for another Wrexham transfer
As well as adding some much-needed depth in the number 10 role, Cacace playing in midfield would leave the door open for another signing.
It was reported last week that Owen Beck is wanted by Wrexham but signing both him and Cacace when there is already so much competition at left-back might not be ideal.
However, if Mendy and Revan are loaned or sold this summer and Cacace plays some games in midfield, Beck’s arrival from Liverpool would make a lot more sense.
