The rumours regarding Christian Eriksen and Wrexham continue to swirl, and if Phil Parkinson wants further proof as to how good a signing this would be, he only needs to listen to Mauricio Pochettino.
Wrexham are preparing for life in the Championship next season, but judging by the names they’re being linked with, they’re not looking to stay in the second tier very long.
Recent connections between the Red Dragons and Christian Eriksen have intensified over the last week, with the Manchester United man set to be released at the end of his contract this month.
Eriksen has not ruled out staying in England (or Wales, for that matter), but there is still a long way to go in this transfer saga, of course.
Still, Phil Parkinson will not need much persuading, especially in light of the kind of praise Eriksen received in the past from his former Spurs manager.

What Mauricio Pochettino said about Christian Eriksen
Speaking to Hayters TV after a game between Tottenham and Manchester United back in 2018, in which Eriksen opened the scoring after just ten seconds, Pochettino was full of praise for the Danish international.
He said: “I think the action that is so important with Christian Eriksen is the belief. The run he made was fantastic. He’s not waiting around and wondering what will happen; he showed desire and anticipation, he read the actions.
“It’s so important. It’s something to show the academy players and the younger players.”
Now 33-years-old, Eriksen certainly fits the kind of age profile Wrexham normally tend to go for. And, with his influence and the example he sets on the pitch, he could be a great addition in showing the likes of Max Cleworth and the youngsters in the Wrexham squad how things are done at the top level.
Christian Eriksen would be a Championship cheat code for Wrexham
The main stumbling block for Wrexham at this stage is how big Eriksen’s wage demands would be, at least based on his Man Utd salary, which was around £7.8m per year.
But, if Wrexham can persuade him to drop down to the Championship and turn out for the Red Dragons, they’d have one of the best players in the division immediately.
His creativity and vision would be a dream come true for the likes of Sam Smith in attack, who would surely get great service to continue his goalscoring exploits.
Wrexham scored 20 goals from set-piece situations in 2024/25. With Eriksen’s ball delivery skills, that number would surely increase in 2025/26.
| Rank | Team | Open play | Set-piece | Penalty |
| 1 | Lincoln City | 25 | 30 | 3 |
| 2 | Exeter | 22 | 25 | 1 |
| 3 | Bolton | 35 | 21 | 3 |
| 4 | Charlton | 35 | 21 | 3 |
| 5 | Huddersfield | 30 | 21 | 1 |
| 6 | Wrexham | 40 | 20 | 3 |
There’s also the fact that Eriksen offers versatility, with the veteran being able to operate out wide or in a more central playmaker role. Parkinson would have a number of ways to use Eriksen in his system, and if he can make this transfer happen, he absolutely should.
