When Christian Eriksen outshone another Wrexham target with ‘brilliant’ 8.5/10 display vs Wales

Christian Eriksen is among several midfielders being linked with a move to Wrexham this summer.

Wrexham have been told to make six to nine signings in the 2025 summer transfer window after their promotion to the Championship.

One area the club are looking to strengthen this summer is midfield, with a number of names linked.

We have previously revealed that Wrexham want Charlie Savage and Tom Lawrence, the latter of whom will be out of contract with Rangers at the end of this month.

More recently, it emerged that Phil Parkinson wants Christian Eriksen, with the Dane due to become a free agent at the end of June.

Eriksen would be a brilliant addition for Wrexham, improving several players and helping Rob McElhenney’s dream of Premier League promotion.

And with some wishful thinking, the Manchester United man could be lining out alongside a player he has previously outshone.

Christian Eriksen dominated against Tom Lawrence and Wales

Back in September 2018, Wales faced off with Denmark in a UEFA Nations League meeting.

The home outfit came away with a 2-0 win at the Ceres Park Arena, with Eriksen scoring both goals on the day.

He started as Denmark’s number 10, while Lawrence played on the left-hand side of Wales’ attacking midfield trio.

Eriksen earned high praise from his manager at the time, who, as per the Daily Mail, called him ‘brilliant’.

Age Hareide said: “Technically, he is brilliant. Finishing, brilliant. Around the box, you are always looking for Christian.

“I’ve seen so many teams try to knock him down but they just lose him.”

The Mail handed Eriksen a game-high 8.5/10 for his performance, while Lawrence was awarded 5.5/10.

How Wrexham targets Tom Lawrence and Christian Eriksen compare

Lawrence has had injury issues throughout his time at Rangers, and they hampered him over the course of 2024/25.

However, he still scored six and assisted two in 28 matches across all competitions for the Gers in the most recent season.

As for Eriksen, he made 35 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring five and assisting six.

But if both players were to sign for Wrexham, it would make sense for them to be used in different positions, with Lawrence playing slightly further forward and Eriksen sitting deeper in the centre of the trio.
