Wrexham have secured the signing of a striker in Modou Fall and the former West Bromwich Albion talent can take inspiration from one new teammate.

Wrexham secured eight signings during the summer transfer window with the last addition coming on transfer deadline day.

Phil Parkinson wanted one more striker to add to his ranks.

There were links with experienced forwards such as Sheffield Wednesday’s Michael Smith and Preston North End’s Will Keane.

Instead, Wrexham signed Modou Faal from West Bromwich Albion.

A young forward with huge potential, Faal will hope to become a star at Wrexham having signed a permanent deal at the STōK Cae Ras.

Modou Faal can follow in Wrexham star’s footsteps

Faal arrives having shown promise in League Two last season.

Across loans at Doncaster Rovers and Walsall, Faal scored 15 times in all competitions last season.

A giant target man, Faal could thrive at Wrexham and he has some experienced forwards to learn from in Ollie Palmer and Steven Fletcher.

There is one player Faal may want to really emulate at Wrexham – left wing back Jacob Mendy.

Mendy has become a Gambian international off the back of his Wrexham display and now has three caps for The Scorpions.

Faal’s story is somewhat similar in terms of being born in The Gambia before moving away to England, though via Spain in Mendy’s case.

New Wrexham signing Faal has yet to earn a cap for the Gambian national team but has previously admitted his interest in representing the country of his birth.

“I want to play for the Gambia National team,” said Faal whilst speaking to The Alkamba Times in 2023. “That’s where I am from, where I was born and raised for seven years. I would make everyone proud if I played for the Gambia,” he added.

Mendy once explained that joining Wrexham was the key to him earning his first international cap.

Mendy believed that he wouldn’t have earned that chance without joining Wrexham, with the club’s ever-growing profile putting him on the radar.

Faal is now on that same path; he will feature on Welcome to Wrexham down the line and put himself on the radar of boss Johnny McKinstry on the International stage.

Of course, Faal needs to perform on the pitch to make this step up, but he may well join forces with Mendy for club and country very soon.

Faal the final investment of busy Wrexham window

Wrexham’s total transfer spend has come out around £2million according to reports.

Faal is understood to have cost around £500,000 as Wrexham raided West Brom for his signature.

That is a hefty investment for Wrexham and potentially a club-record deal, depending on just how much Wrexham spent on Ollie Rathbone this summer.

Wrexham have put a lot of faith in Faal and are now relying on him to become a star in the years to come.

Faal is far from the finished product but with experienced forwards to learn from, Parkinson will hope to see him come a regular goalscorer at the STōK Cae Ras.
