Wrexham are juggling the beginning of the Championship campaign with the chaos of the final few weeks of the transfer window.

Phil Parkinson has got most of his business done early after Wrexham confirmed the signing of Nathan Broadhead in a club-record transfer.

Broadhead became the club’s ninth signing of the summer and it is believed that Parkinson wants one or two more to complete his squad. Wrexham are interested in Calum Chambers from Cardiff City.

However, with a bloated squad, departures are the main thing on the Red Dragon’s agenda and an official statement has confirmed the departure of one player.

Wrexham confirm Callum Edwards has joined Southport on loan

As per Wrexham’s official website, the club have confirmed that 19-year-old winger Callum Edwards has joined National League North side Southport on loan until January.

The second-year scholar spent last season at Welsh Premier League side Bala Town and is now looking to further his development at Southport.

Edwards was on the bench for the senior side in the EFL Trophy clash with Port Vale, where he witnessed fellow academy graduate Harry Ashfield score his first goal for the club in a 4-1 win.

The club have sent their best wishes to Edwards for his loan opportunity and will be keeping a keen eye on how he develops over the coming months.

Other Wrexham players that could leave on loan this transfer window

With Parkinson needing to trim his squad, there are several other players that could be set for a loan move away from North Wales.

Ashfield himself may be lined up for a temporary move to gain some valuable experience in a first-team environment.

Aaron James started the EFL Cup victory over Hull City and with Wrexham interested in the likes of Chambers, he may be another young talent that is given a temporary move elsewhere.

Several clubs are interested in Jacob Mendy on loan and then Wrexham will be looking to secure permanent transfers for the likes of Ollie Palmer and Elliot Lee.
