Wrexham fans are saying an emotional goodbye to Paul Mullin after seeing the striker complete a loan move to Wigan Athletic.
Wrexham’s rise has resulted in some painful farewells over the years, as Phil Parkinson wins promotion after promotion.
Rob McElhenney has admitted his pain over Wrexham exits, believing key men play themselves out of a job by helping the club move forward.
No exit will hurt quite as much as Paul Mullin’s, after the striker made himself an absolute hero in Wrexham.
Mullin joined Wrexham from Cambridge United in 2021, dropping two divisions to join the Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds project.
110 goals later, Mullin has made himself a Wrexham hero for life, and fans will be cheering him on from afar after seeing him move on.

Paul Mullin sends message to Wrexham fans
Mullin has completed a move to Wigan Athletic, joining the League One club on loan for the 2025-26 season.
The 30-year-old barely featured for Wrexham in 2025 and saw his playing time diminish as Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez arrived.
The belief of Mullin returning to first-team action dwindled as the season went on, and the painful realisation hit – Mullin would not be a Wrexham player for the 2025-26 season.
Wigan have pounced, and while Mullin’s deal is only a loan move until next summer, a permanent exit is surely coming.
Mullin has now taken to social media to share a heartfelt message with fans after completing his move to the Latics.
‘All the best this season! Keep the train rolling,’ said Mullin alongside a heart emoji, as he urged Wrexham to keep the progress going after three straight promotions.
Just as Wrexham fans will support Mullin from afar, Mullin will keep Wrexham in his heart and watch the club’s progress closely.
This may prove to be the end of the line for Mullin at Wrexham, but his impact will never, ever be forgotten.

Paul Mullin finally links up with Ryan Lowe
The move sees Mullin join up with a fellow Liverpudlian in Wigan boss Ryan Lowe.
Both have been Tranmere Rovers strikers over the years, though they never actually crossed paths at Prenton Park.
Still, Lowe has admired Mullin from afar for years now, going back to his time in charge of Plymouth Argyle.
The Sun’s Alan Nixon reported in 2021 that Lowe’s Argyle side were pushing hard to sign Mullin on a free transfer from Cambridge.
Wrexham won the race for Mullin, but Lowe has finally landed his man some four years later.
Lowe will now hope to get Mullin back on track and scoring goals at League One level, with the striker hoping to bounce back from a disappointing campaign at Wrexham.
